View Full Version : sligo to be deducted points??
Heard at the weekend that Sligo Rovers are going to be deducted points for playing an illegal player in Sean Flannery? Can anyone confirm/deny this?
This would put a serious dent in sligos challenge for promotion this year and send them well down the table :D , depending on how many games he played!

Sure what the deal there ..... its only a €200 fine isn't it ???
If UEFA treat backroom staff the same as players then this surely is the going rate now. So how many games did he play ..... not even a grand anyway !!
You're sorted lads !!

The problem was that he had signed for Local Junior club Yeats United after leaving Galway (who he never kicked a ball for due to injury) and played 2 games before anyone copped it.Fingers are being pointed at the Sligo/Leitrim leagues rather Large FA delegate!!!!

Think it was just their first 2 games Flannery played in, which would be the Kildare and Dublin City games
We were docked 3 points last season for fielding
Mickey McCann (came on as a as a sub against Monaghan)
when he hadnt been fully registered.

Yep, he played the full 90 minutes in the 1st 2 games. Looks like a **** up on the managers behalf.

I think it was the Sligo league that f**ked up not the manager
Surely the Sligo board/management would have known Sean had signed for
Yeats and therefore I reckon the blame should be with them and Sean F.
It states in the rules that you cant transfer between clubs like that.
