For those who have expressed reservations about our defence (particularly of Dan - who played very well on Friday, by all accounts), we have the second best defence in the League behind Derry (who have been very impressive so far).
Just one goal conceeded in 5 games - our best record for years!
More of the same please guys. ;)
Exactely!
2 goals conceeded in 7.
- Bray goal was freak after some loss of concentration.
- Portadown goal was poor defending (bad positioning) at set piece.
Would be crazy to break up the back 5 at this stage even if i'd like to see Greg in ahread of Danny Murphy.

Any news on Derik Coughlan ?
Not sure about thoses facts there at all...the defence has been clearly very shaky since the start of the season and especially Dan Murray..Derek will probably replace him when he is match fit..ok as mentioned we have only conceded a couple of goals(including setanta cup)which is good but when we play against better teams we will get caught out if Murray in particular does not improve..i met a Bray fan after our opening league match at the X..he is a Bray fan for over 30 yrs and travels all over the country supporting them..he asked me how on earth Dan Murray gets into a team like Cork City...that might be a bit hard on him but i think but he has had a poor start..

Yeah the defensive record hides Dan's shaky performances. But I would be in favour of him holding on to his place for a while after Derek Coughlan is match fit, to see if his game improves, 'cos he has to compete for his place. The reports of his performance against Bohs are encouraging, so maybe he is just on the way out of a bad patch. On a related point, I would pull him out wider for the set pieces around the opposition goal. Given a bit of space his heading is sublime, and at the very least he will draw one decent defender with him.

I agree..i would like to see him stay in the side but obviously only if he regains his form..at least when Derek is ready there will be better competition for places and hopefully this might help Dan..everyone knows he is good enough so thats what is expected..
Derek and match fitness???? How long does it take to get "match fit"???
Will we see him before Christmas??

bHe's injured.
Murray has been very poor this season, but I think he played reasonably well against Bohs. A few good games could improve his confidence and get him back on track, because once Derek is fit he'll have a fight on his hands.
Dan Murray has been dogy at times ;) this season but IMHO he had absolute stormers against Shels & Bohs. Hes much better in the air than the ground but unforunately Derek isn't going to add anything to that.

Never mind the detractors - they're not true City supporters.
C'mon City.

Bohs weren't enough of a test.
It is always good to have them competing for their places, new manager means they really should be playing we at the basic thing, getting turned losing the ball etc. These are things that there should bve no on form off form. Therefore I will hold judgment on the preformance but you can't fault his commitment that is half the battle.

JDB..well done lad...you have just won a biscuit..what a silly comment you have just made..
I'm sure that Hilly is having an effect on Dan already. He has been very shaky, but the criticism of him is a bit ott, especially as we do not have someone to replace him.
His real test comes over the next 4 weeks.
Drogheda
Rovers
SPA
Wahhurrforrrtttt
and the Setanta games.
If we can go through those 6 games with only 2 goals conceded, Dan will be doing his job, no matter what anyone says.

spot on patsh. There have been times this season I have been screaming at Dan in sheer frustration at the way he's playing, but IMO against Bohs he was much better. I reckon Hilly will be very good for him.
