There is bound to be a devious plan afoot to scuttle any hope of the gates of Croke Park being opened to football/rugby. I would be amazed, gobsmacked and very pleased if the GAA opens their gates. If they don't I vow never to go to a GAA match again.

I feel in the same situation as you Drummerboy. I love Gaelic Games. I porbably prefer them to soccer for all out emotion atmosphere , competition and I would go to a lot of intercounty games each year.
If however this vote goes wayward or, if as some people seem to think, some dastardly plan is hatched to prevent an opening then I will have to reconsider very seriously whether I'll be putting much money towards the GAA.

sirhamish I have heard other stories similar to yours of the extreme amounts of money pumped into clubs. This has to stop too. For your own good and the good of the clubs. We all have our opinions about the GAA good and bad. Giving out is no good for anyone cop-on.

I was just thinking, and I don't know if it has been attempted before. It would be interesting if we could find out not who, but the amounts of money individuals have given to clubs in the name of love. Both in soccer and gaelic just to find out which set of supporter are the most fanatical financially.

I am sure all Town supporters are delighted that Longford County Board were one of those who supported the change from day one and even had a motion in themselves. T.J. Ward spoke at the convention supporting the motion. What we will probably start hearing now from non GAA bigots is that the GAA are overcharging for the facility. The fact is that no matter what they charge the FAI or IRFU are on a winner as they can sell almost twice as many tickets for the matches. It's a win, win situation.
It is encouraging to see the grass roots of the GAA wresting control of their affairs from the grasp of those bigots like the Murphy's in Cork(who deprived their own clubs of any say in the matter) and Jack Boothman and his fellow past presidents. Hopefully they will now take steps to ensure that the negative influence of these relics of the past is further diluted, so that they cannot create further mischief down the road to progress.
You are dead right Cop On the GAA have much to be proud of even in a small county like Longford where every club have fine facilities obtained by their own efforts.
