1:0 defeat for Longford at the Brandywell. 87th minute goal. Happy, happy days.

The first time we've beaten them at home since they were promoted.

A point clear at the top of the league. Hallelujiah ! Let's hope we can keep this form goin'.......

"A LATE, late goal from Derry City substitute, Stephen O'Flynn, hoisted Derry City onto the summit of the Premier Division table at the Brandywell last night."

Stephen O'Flynn

FFS .... something tells me that is not the first time we'll hear that name.

Who changed the title of my message, by the way ? The original 'City top of the league' has had 'Derry' added to it.

An intolerant Cork fan/administrator perhaps ? There are more than one 'citys' in the league, you know....

Unnecessary.......

But isn't it better now that there is some definition to it ..... Derry City .... it should have bright flashing lights around it !! ;) ..... i know that if it were Cork City, i'd want te same .... its only right, i mean this could very well be the first and last time this season and you want it clearly labeled thread so you can keep bumping it up to remember what was !! :D

In short - no. I don't think it was particularly unclear who the thread was referring to.

Appears to have just been Cork intolerance of anyone else 'daring' to refer to themselves as 'City'.

For the record - 'City' was used throughout the 80's and 90's to refer primarily to Derry City (similar to how Rovers usually refers to the Shams). Back in the days when Cork City were kicking sheep dung around Flower Lodge in front of 50 fans, wandering how long it would be before they went the way of the plethora of other Cork clubs :) We've charitably let you use the term 'City' to refer to yourselves ever since - but now we're claiming it back.... :D

That title is very misleading.

Could you be more specific as to exactly which league you're talking about?

Good to see Derry back at the right end of the table. I really think ye will do well this season. Stevo could be a great signing for ye.

Any Bohs fans having second thoughts about getting rid of Stephen Kenny now ? It's loking a bad move at the moment. (And ok I know it is still early days)

None at all. He'd lost the plot at our club and it was 100% the right decision to sack him. When things were going bad, he didn't know how to put things right.

I thought the sacking of SK last year was a disgrace.

Derry were good down at the cross last year when we drew 1-1 with them and you could see that there was something good happening under Kenny.

I think everybody is sick of the Dublin domination anyway. So long may it continue to have us country teams dominating the top of the table.
