Or is it an ingenious way to find out some more info on peoples true identities. If so, then wrong message board I'm afraid. Try here (http://www.corkcityfc.ie/forums), although there might only be about 5 actual users over there.

I have 48 left ;)
What I was wondering: does Gmail policies include everyone can have only one account, or can I send an invite to myself to have a second Gmail address ?
I am one of the few internet users that rather follows the rules than providing fake name and address etc to have a second account. My Hotmail's stuck with 2 MB still because I don't want to lie by giving an American zipcode to get 250 MB...
Except for adult sites, then a false name can be handy :)

I wouldn't mind an invite if anyoen has any to spare, could come in handy. Send us a PM if you have some to give out.
EDIT - Ignore that, I've got an invitation now. Cheers Adam.

On the subject of G-mail can you only use the webmail or can you set it up with outlook express at all? I've had a look around it and it doesn't seem to say anything so I'd guess that means you can only use it as webmail.

The question is why you'd want it in Outlook. Because don't most people have Gmail to have a gigantic webmail account ? You can just as well put a 2 MB Hotmail account in Outlook, then it's advantageous because thanks to Outlook you get rid of the 2 MB inbox limit. With Gmail you get 2 GB so I don't really see why you would not use the great webmail :)
Unless... if you can get to install it in a way that mails both end up in your webmail and in Outlook... Then you can use the handy Outlook features at home but still check your email from any computer as well.

Which is exactly what I've done, it's great!
I just think outlook is handier, I leave it open and it automatically checks for E-mail every 10 minutes or so, it's just handier than having to log in every time. I can still use the webmail all the same though.

So the email you receive is stored at the same time in Outlook and in your webmail, just like it is usually in Outlook and webmail ?
That is impressing :)
What about outgoing mails ? If you send them via webmail, do you have them also in the Sent Items folder of your Outlook ? Or vice versa, if you send the mail via Outlook, does the outgoing mail also end up in the webmail's Sent Items folder ?
I've been looking for a while for a webmail/POP mail provider that lets me use my own domains...

Yeah that's how it works for incoming e-mails alright, I've just tested it out. I don't think sent e-mails come up in both though, but if you really want them to you could always forward them on to yourself and then you'll have the e-mail in both inboxes anyway.

I do too but found the standard gmail notifier on the gmail site does the job and is handier. I wouldn't bother with the extension.

It's just Hotmail coming way behind... 2 MB for those who didn't do the address-in-Florida trick... I am still stuck with 2 MB, don't use it too much though.
I've got what I need with Gmail and Yahoo. Will have an additional one with my own domain as soon as I found a decent and affordable webmail/POP provider to point my .com domain to.

any chance I could get my own @Gerrit.com e-mail address? They could become huge on foot.ie :D
Gerrit

I don't even get that myself unfortunately, as the domain is registered :( Idem for gerrit.net and gerrit.info :(
I had some interest in extentions such as .tv, .co.uk, .ie, .cc but they're either not international enough or either too expensive (.tv costs you at least 30 bucks a year and that's without any additional services such as URL forwarding or CNAME creation)

Play around with this (http://www.domainsearch.com/). Gerrit.to is €50/year, but has a nice ring to it.
I do hosting, but I ain't cheap.

a nice 'ring' ? I am a bit doubted about these domains of tropical islands.
TO really means Tonga, and using it for other countries is a bit weird, unless you have nice combinations such as fly.to, surf.to, go.to, want.to, etc but these were almost all purchased by V3 (http://www.v3.com) who now gives away free URL-redirections.
It seems CC is being promoted as an alternative for COM or even as CreditCard, NU is popular mainly in Sweden as if it would mean New, and VU even promotes itself as Virtual User...
I like TV as an exception: easy-to-remember for everyone, and makes sense for websites containing some media files or pictures. But the costs are huge...

All of those ccTLD's you've listed are almost identical in that most have been leased out to third party operators to take advantage of their "attractiveness". Very few of them are operated from the islands themselves, since the islands have very poor connectivity, if any. the only difference between TV (Tuvalu) and TO (Tonga) is that TV has more value because the TV companies are suckers for them. It's also operated in a slightly different way, in that valuable second-level strings are assigned automatic (obviously higher) price levels.
(I'm a domain registrar, I've been doing this for nearly ten years.)

gerrit if you are looking to setup your own domain, you should think a little further ahead. if you have a decent box and a broadband provider, depending on the amount of traffic you envisage, you should turn your own machine into a server. that way you can have as many addressess as you like. just look about getting a static ip address. you dont necessarily need one, but it makes things a hell of a lot easier. www.dydns.org (sic) is a good place to look about. have a look at this site for a start before you commit to anything, they also have a very good forum with regular users.:
