Delighted for him, he has had a great season and seems like a good guy. Until the destination is definitely championship, I wouldn’t be saying he’s a must have in the squad for a look. Hopefully he will continue to go from strength to strength, but needs to be playing championship football at a minimum next season. Still only 22
Player of the match, player of the season and integral to their promotion push, he’s made a much bigger impact in this division than Knight. Well worth a look, given our paucity in midfield.
Think he'll be playing championship football next season whether Barnsley get promoted or not.

I'm not sure if "slow" is quite the right description, but I do still think he lacks the athleticism needed to be a successful Premier League player. Hope I'm wrong, because he's a really talented footballer, no question, and I'd love him to succeed after what was done to him at Celtic. If you could put his technical ability together with Jack Taylor's physical ability you'd have some player on your hands.
Disappointment for Luca and Barnsley as a last second winner in extra time sees Wednesday promoted. Luca missed a great chance in extra time which you'd have fancied him to score or at least test the keeper but scuffed his shot. Fatigue more than likely playing it's part as players were out on their feet in extra time.
Overall it's been a good season for the lad after leaving Celtic and would be great to see him move up a level but feel it might be a season too early as Barnsley will surely want a pretty penny to let him go. Still has two years at a minimum on his contract.

What a chance it was too...

Yeah it was a bad, bad miss. Fatigue probably a factor at that stage. Still... somewhat of a breakout season for him, credit to him.

Tell me about it. He just took his eye off the ball for a split second and the rest is history. I sat just level with it and thought he must score. Still one of the stand out players in Division One this season and would be surprised if he doesn't get an offer from a neighbouring Yorkshire club in the Championship.

Michael Duff appointed Swansea manager. Wonder whether he’ll bring Connell with him? By
Signs a new four year contract with a club option for a fifth year. Same day Barnsley announced the contract the EFL announced that they have charged Barnsley in relation to multiple breaches (five) regarding the club's ownership and have charged two former directors for causing those breaches.

Barnsley are in financial trouble at the moment, the contract could just be to ensure that if they have to sell him, they will get a transfer fee for him.

Perhaps, but at the same time, he's still just 22, he's fit, happy, the fans absolutely ADORE him and it must be a great feeling for him after his time in Scotland.

Seems like a nice lad. One to keep a real eye on, he has a serious amount of class.

Connell has an illness which his club are "just getting to the bottom of". His condition is improving slowly, but there is no definitive timescale regarding his return.
Barnsley FC head coach Neill Collins gives an update on the condition of Luca Connell and his thoughts on whether Coventry City target Liam Kitching is distracted by transfer talk | Yorkshire Post (https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/sport/football/barnsley-fc-head-coach-neill-collins-gives-an-update-on-the-condition-of-luca-connell-and-his-thoughts-on-whether-coventry-city-target-liam-kitching-is-distracted-by-transfer-talk-4256933)

After a really good season and new contract in the summer, he hasn't featured at all for Barnsley so far.
This is the latest, about a week ago from his manager. It doesn't sound good at all.
Midfielder Connell has been out all season with illness. Collins said: “I am concerned for Luca as a Barnsley player and person. I just want him to get healthy and get back. He’s working hard and we all are to make sure we get him back. But these things take time.”

On the bench tonight for their FA Cup game after missing nearly 4 months because of an illness.

Played 76 minutes tonight for Barnsley. Good to see him fit again.

Looks to be getting plenty of praise after his return for Barnsley…

Taylor starting for Ipswich also bodes well for our future centre mid options.

Delighted for him - because things seem to have gone completely off the rails

I actually think he going to come good on that potential. I can see him in a strong Championship team or even premier league team within 3 or 4 years

Had a fairly nasty illness and was out for nearly 3 months because of it. Hopefully fully over it now.

Scored his first of the season at Burton today - Barnsley well placed to make the playoffs : https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/68653037
Made club captain and scored Barnsley only goal in a 2-1 lose to Mansfield.

I said it before, Normally I wouldn't like a league one player called up. But his age and the fact that we are desperate in that position. I would like HH to have a look at the lad

Sure he only turned 22 last year.

Can't see him having the gas for the type of game HH is likely to want us to play. Suspect our midfield is going to be somewhere for the Molumby and Knight type players to thrive for the next few years.

Has been dropped by his manager, Conor Hourihane, for substandard performances (I suppose Conor should know all about those!). The reaction from the club's supporters seems to be that they agree. Looks to have found his level at a mid-table League 1 team and it doesn't look like he's going to develop into a viable option for Ireland.

Reading that quickly ~ I read it as " substance performances "
Memo to self ~ Read a bit slower !
