Anyone else think this has almost european feel to it?

OK i know its car or bus as opposed to bus, plane, train & car but definitely has the stepping into the unknown flavour.

Hopefully we'll be so used to these trips in a few years that be nothing special.

We really need points in the bag from that game ... then it'll be 10 from a possible 12, which aint a bad start to be fair.

You're right abot that though Pete, Setanta cup is actually a whole lot better that i thought it would be. The only thing that i was looking at at the start was the money but having seen some of the games, i think it could become a great competition in a year or two.

I really prefer if it just stayed with the two for a few years to get established, maybe then invite others but for the time being i'd rather it stay the way it is.

Definitely.
The $hels game was just another "big" game, but this leap into the unknown, plus all the security arrangements around the game, have certainly made this a special event.

In the immortal words of Ian Rush, it'll be like "playing in a foreign country".

I think the secret might be NOT to get used to it. There's nothing worse than a mundane trip but it's made all the more bearable when it's for something special or something you're not used to like the Setanta Cup.

If they become nothing special it'll take away the appetite for it thus take away the crowds IMO.

Definately important to keep the teams in it to a minimum as it is at the moment. If you finish in the top 2 in the league or win the Cup, then not only do you qualify for Europe, you qualify for the Setanta Cup too.

How about if it was extended to Scotland?
Teams outside of the "Old Firm".
2 teams from Ireland
2 teams from N. Ireland
2 teams from Scotland
2 groups with a team from each league in each group.

That's what I was thinking. Could be a tougher game in many respects. They are our bogey team after all.
