Do you write tabloid headlines, by any chance?

Here's (http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=241714) the other side of the story.

Jeez, lighten up. I was just pointing out the tabloid-esque pun.

If I was just pointing out typos for the sake of it I would have quoted your sig. (Or is longord another pun, like "No f in longford")

Don't worry, this is foot.ie where everyone loves to point your spelling/typo mistakes while adding nothing to the topic.

Broadband? They only way to go. I've had it for years over here.

I don't know if the irish version of broadband compares too well with the US. Only become reasonable value in irealnd in the last year. Cheaper broadband for home users would probably lead to big boost in work productivity - i definitely don't use at much at work since have at home anymore.

Any broadband would be a start for me, and thousands of others in the country

No, rip off one way satellitte the only option. How about eircom using their vast profits and monopoly position to upgrade their fookin lines/exchanges like the rest of the world?

Are there no wireless operators up your way Macy? Are you sure you can't get VSAT?

 Last time I checked it was only Satellite Broadband that was an option.

VSAT is two-way satellite broadband. It's available anywhere in the country (possibly bar way way out wesht), but it's expensive (I mean really expensive). If I was you I'd post on the BB forum on Boards.ie every now and then to check if any wireless companies are coming to (or already in) your area.

Sat just too expensive, but tbh broadband down the list of priorities at the moment behind other stuff for the new house. It would help if eircom didn't keep sending me broadband offers when they know I can't fookin get it though.

In the bill or separate? I don't think they're allowed include offers in the bill any more, and separate offers are legislated for in the Data Protection Act. Check dataprivacy.ie and oasis.ie for details on getting yourself off the lists. If you've done it already, ask the Commissioner to bring a case against them.

I pay $40 a month. Actually my company pays for it because I connect to my company's network sometimes at night.

Yeah, but the cost of equipment is crazy, and that is still only one way.
