Cobh Ramblers intend to appoint a new manager within a week to facilitate a smooth hand-over from the current management team in preparation for next season.

Cobh’s long-serving manager Liam McMahon has urged the officers of the club to give the new appointee time to see the players in competitive action.

He said:"We have six matches to play in the League and it would obviously be of great benefit to the incoming manager to use those matches to get to know his players."

The club officers are currently evaluating the claims of three experienced men who applied for the job - Tommy Gaynor, former Limerick and Nottingham Forest player; Tommy Lynch, former manager of Waterford and Limerick; and Dave Hill, former Cork City player whose contract with Bohemians runs out at the end of the season.

That Cobh desire to appoint the new man sooner rather than later suggests that Hill is an outside bet as Bohs will not release him while they have outstanding League and FAI Cup matches pending.
