According to BBC Ceefax this morning Daryl Murphy will be Mick McCarthys first acquisition as a premiership manager.

Well done to the guy. Hope it works out for him

Though it will be a blow to the blue's chances of Europe, i hope he does well over there. But its a huge step up for him interesting to see how he does.

Jebus .... a steal for Sunderland really isn't it !!

100 grand ..... should be 250 grand and still be good value.

Maybe the Blahs aren't the only ones who aren't any good at nailing down a decent price. FAir play to Sunderland .... if the Blues agree to it, then there cant be any complaint.

Face, 95% of the cash is going into the ex-chairman's back pocket with the remaining 5% allocated to Southend, Daryl's junior club.

Now lets have a rudimentary maths lesson here right.

95 - O'Brien
5 + Southend
----
100

that leaves us with 0.

Right we're off to buy Fitzpatrick.

Sunderland set for Murphy deal

Waterford United confirm on their official site that striker Daryl Murphy is set to join English side Sunderland. It is confirmed that Mick McCarthy is in negotiations with the Blues to bring the Irish under-21 international to the Stadium of Light.

Murphy had trials with the club earlier in the year and Sunderland manager Mick McCarthy was present at Belfield earlier in the season as UCD took on Waterford.

IMO Waterford have undersold themselves selling star forward & u-21 international for probably at most £100k sterling to english PREMIERSHIP team.

City would be nuts to let Doyle go for anything less than €300k (still a bargain) as would not able to replace him.
