I'm currently writing a book looking at the LoI and tracing it from its heyday in the 1950s to where it stands now and am looking for any funny/interesting anecdotes, stories and memories that you may have or heard of.

I'm also very interested in hearing from fans who were involved in or experienced key moments in the League's history ie KRAM campaign and feel free to pass on my email to anyone that might be able to help.
Cheers,
Daire

You should try to get a copy of 'Strings of my Harps' by Patsy McGowan. His 'interpetation' of the The Finn Harps American Tour 1974 is brillant. Stories of half the team being chsed out of Harlem in the middle of the night by a gang of brothers! :D

Eamonn Sweeney's 'One Red Army' is another excellent EL read

Johnny Ward's old eircom League site had a collection of stories told by fans on it. Some very good ones on it. Dunno if he still has them or not

The aforementioned fans' stories (and indeed, the rest of JW's site) are still accessible here. (http://web.archive.org/web/20020816084117/redbrick.dcu.ie/~jw/fansstories.htm)

I remember about two years ago in Galway. We where behind the goals and one Rovers fans was giving the ref a lot of abuse so the ref blew him a kiss and gave him a wink very funny

Jebus ... you'll be at that a while ..... there is no way you could just skim the surface with that, so club related book have managed to skim the surface alright but with the LOI, you'll definitely be at it a while.

The book will be as good as the contacts you make while doing it !!

Write to/Contact the authors of the books above and the LOI programme editors and get some advice there on what direction to take, your description above seems very broad to be honest.

Anyway .... best of luck ..... i'll post something when i get a chance.

Sorry .... meant to add ..... if this was done really well, and all LOI fans would have an interest then it would be a brilliant read and surely a very good venture, it being a broader market etc. and if it goes back to the 50s then it would be very broad indeed !!

I'd say that most people would be more than will to pitch in and help ya !!
