On fridays after the Saints match 3-10 pints depending on the result
The same on Saturday nights, but depending on how much I had the night before
Don't drink midweek anymore. (unless special occasion) Not able to get up for work next day

6 or 7 pints in a week. All on a weekend. No shots, no wine, no cocktails. Just pints.

Very little usually (drank bucketloads last weekend though)
Might have a glass of wine with dinner a couple of times a week.
Can't do the pub on worknights anymore, pay too heavy a price.
Usually drive to matches/gigs so wouldn't drink at them often.
Depending who I'm out with it's usually two/three pints and a chat if I do head to the pub, a sign I'm getting old now :o
just trying to gauge whether i'm an alco yet.
You say that as if it's something you're striving to become.
Health-wise the recommendation is 14 units for women, 21 units for men.
These days I stick to beer. A couple of pints every second night, maybe a couple more the weekend.
I brew my own, and will have about 40 pints of stout ready in a couple of weeks, but I'll take my time drinking it.

Don't drink during the week - coming into work with a hangover is not for me - and gave it up for Lent (and kept it!!) but now I'm back on the sauce, an average night is 6-8 pints, and maybe a shot or 2 of vodka.

Do you find if you have not drank a drink in over 7 days you long for one?

A couple of bottles of wine a week easy.
If I go out with work, it used to be 5 or 6 pints on a Thurs and/or Friday night, then out after that on the vodka. But I came home in so wasted so many times, Ive cut back.
This week will be alot worse though, work are taking us out for the day for hitting target and are paying.
Last time this happened there was an awful lot of drink involved, but its good fun :D

Without a doubt. Last night, I hadn't drank in 2 days. I was thirsty for pints of Guinness after the match. Therefore, I went for scoops with other foot.ie users $Leon$, Don Vito, theGreenHen, and Dolby126. And yes, Don and Dolby got on like a house on fire.

I just basically drink until closing so average about 8 pints a night. Go out 2/3 times a week. I would be pretty impossible for me to drink 5 pints unless i'm going home at about 11. :) A lot of you seem to drink the spirits, can't hack that stuff.

a lot of people find you can only drink so much beer/guinness etc on a night out and then you need a change to keep going.

12th man according to an old t-shirt of mine -you're not an alcoholic til you start going to meetings.
Til then -you're maybe a drunk, a souse, a lug, a lushy ....
but heh I aint lecturing...
probably 20-ish pints a week and a bottle or two of wine.
Quit spirits years ago as I was a mean b a stard on the whiskey. not funny. not talking it up. not glorifying it -I was just just a mean messy fecker.
I get those cramps in my side too that pronane mentioned. It's your liver literally heaving under the strain.

Emmm...... after wanderers matches i'd go for 4 or 5 in the hibo. Saturdays i'd have 4-6 pints before heading clubbing. Where i'd have 10 vodkas and red bulls( buy them in 2's , it's cheaper) :p , and a couple of shots of the sweet sambuca!!! Depending on the occasion. Only drink Friday and Saturdays... :) Very rarely during the week!!! Only if United are playing a very important game!!! ;)

Seems very moderate on here so far
i normally do 2 nights a week (Fri&Sat - cant handle the next day, so very rare for me to venture out midweek)...
Id say id drink 8-11 pints per night with a few halfs thrown in. Depends though...i drunk thur/fri/sat/sun/mon over Easter.
When we travel to Dublin for example, theres a good 6-8 cans in there before the bar before the game....we usually end up in Ardee until 2am before arriving back to Derry at 4.30/5am

Going to a night club I wud drink 4-6 pints & a 3-4 shots. But then going to the pub(not going to a nite club after) I would only drink 1-2 pints and fizzy pop. But im not a big drinker but all my m8s are alcos and they are only 17/18.

Would you remember your whole night though? I could drink as much as I wanted if I was drinking a pint ever 45-60 minutes but if I wanted to enjoy myself and have a pint ever half hour I'd be blanked out after only my 8th. I still continue drinking and am told I still seem fine.
The thing with me though is that I don't get drunker and drunker. I just feel the same all the way up to my 8th or 9th pint and blank out at some stage. If I concentrated really hard for the whole night I wouldn't blank out but thats never going to happen. I am 22 have been drinking for 10 years now week in week out so have probably wrecked some organ in my body. :)

You've been drinking since you were 12?? I am 25, 26 this year, and I didn't have much interest in drinking until I was 18. I never black out. Could be cos I wouldn't drink too heavily. I get a bit smily-er when drinking and when I feel I have had enough I stop. Most people I know, when they feel they have had enough they hit shots!
I do get sleepy fast if I drink very slowly.

Drinking during the day wrecks me. End up shattered, and fit for nothing.
I didnt really get into drinking till I was 17, and started working in a pub. Then it was all down hill.

Good point. I did that a few Saturdays ago. Got a corporate freebie at Chelsea. Cained the wine, but had a big feed so thought i would be alright, and yet by 9pm I was shattered, and it was home time for me :o

Played poker a few saturdays and had a few drinks with it. I managed to stay out all night, but I have noticed that if I was to go out at 5 or 6, that by 1 I am getting very tired whereas I use to be full of life at 4 in the morning few years ago. I think I jjust couldn't be bothered ;) I love my sleep enough. Lately I am starting to dread the morning at around 12 that night cos I know I'll be in pieces :)

"except if you're at a wedding or similar and the food acts as soakage "
to be honest i think you try and make yourself stay awake at those sort of things i.e. you pace yourself well and set out. but it doesnt always work...
"yet by 9pm I was shattered, and it was home time for me "
aye, for me i think not being funny its down to fitness in a way, cos im a lazy aul fooker and unfit and i get sleepy and wrecked, but my mates who are fit and used to getting up early and playing soccer/gaelic matches are well able to do this, im not and i do think its routine/fitness comes into it.
was home for a christening 3 weeks ago, spent a bomb, (27 euro for 4 red bulls and a vodka aloneee, rip off dublin!!!!) but was fooked by about 10:30 went to a club and was just too tired to speak and couldnt be aresed, and went home shortly afterwards, but me cousins/mates were well able like they kept going and were well able stay out and see the night through.
With me, im always shattered at the weekend. Im usually not able for going out during the week (At the very best I get home from work at 7.30pm). so by the weekends, im too tired for huge sessions. Was different a few years ago, my job didnt matter, and everyone was up for a sesh.
Now it seems to be so much effort now not only going out, but trying to co-ordinate all my mates to go out too.

thats kinda i reckon tho a problem with the size of london, cos everyone is so scattered etc, its just too much effort to meet up once a month etc. unless of course you all live in the same area.
We all live in Crouch End/Hornsey/Wood Green - Its just that most them are all coupled up, and trying to get them out is a nightmare.

Its hitting the point now were myself and my mate go out and if any of our friends make it out its a shock/surprise. People forget that they are not banned from going out cos they have a gf or bf. It is very annoying when you're mates go missing for months cos they are "cleaning the house" or some lame ass excuse like that. You should be able to go out for a few hours (and not drink if you so wish) and if you can't I think a Life review is required :)

Spot on. Im not having a go at my mates, people move on, things change. when we were 18/19 without fail, every week we were all out together. Even during uni, we always made time to hook up when we were back in London. Now we all live round the corner from each other, but they tend to have other things on. I think they might all be growing up and getting sensible

baby óg, too fooken early!!! thats not growing up thats being stupid. you are only young once enjoy it!!!!
It is growing up as far as they are concerned. For them, the whole settling down thing is what they want. If that means less nights out for them, then its really whatever makes them happy, cos thats all that matters at that really matters at the end of the day :)
Me on the other hand, im still just about making the most of being 22 :)
Babysis
31/03/2005, 2:59 PM
thats not really the piont im making. My mate is getting married to a lad from home, i knew her before him but anyhow, she is 22 he is "a little younger". there is nothing wrong with that, but they still enjoy themselves and go out.
settling down at that age is fine, the problem is you may be "sure" this is who you want to settle down with and cut the nights out etc, then you end up 25/26 and on your own, without many friends as they were left behind when you were "settling down".
again being happy is the most important thing, but i would have thought being happy ultimately meant having your friends, family and significant other all a big part of your life.
I know what your saying, and im inclined to agree, hence, me not settling down. But what can you do other than be around if things go pear shaped for your mates. In an ideal world, you have your frineds, family and significant other all getting on great guns. not always the reality though.

aye fair point. just sometimes you can get left behind. and people do change.
Everyones different. but the 3 mates in particular im thinking about will be friends for life. We lasted going to different unis, and now for 2 of them, living in a whole other parts of the country. things change, and we never see each other compared to what we used to, but I know they will be my friends for a good while cos when we do meet up, its like nothings changed, a huge big sesh and a night of laughter. just a pity its not as often as id like

ya thats cool, the ones you can meet up and everythings like it was before. the ones that you would not see for a ages and then go on a holiday!! and the ones that i met in paris and shaved his eyebrow, got bull thick, but we are best of friends again and going to cyprus.
aye baby óg they are the friends you hold onto!!!

Yeah it seems true what they say as in the older you get the harder it is for the longer sessions, or maybe its just that the body system is a bit wrecked from my younger years. I say that as in i'm old but i'm not even 25.
I used to make up drinks at a bar(if i had money) and name them. The one most famous for me is the Goo Goo Juice, Its a mixture of Double Vodka, Double Gin, Smirnoff Ice and Red Bull in a pint glass(mainly niteclub drink). I swore a year ago that i would stop this crazyness but i had one on Sunday Nite  .
I'd say on Usual i used to go out Fri/Sat/Sun(making the odd monday morning in work) without fail and then probably 2 others out of Mon,Tue,Wed,thur. Cant do it anymore though. Maybe having a kid is the best thing to happen to me for more than one reason.
I do find however that with Guinness, i can have quite a few more beers than the chemically enhanced pints like bud etc.
BTW have any of you heard of the famous Goo Goo Juice ?????

Whats all this crap about getting old and sensible, i thought when i hit 30 (im 31 now) id be settled down, not a chance, still up to the same old carry on and i keep a gf happy (i think :D ) at the same time ;)
I've mates 35 and over who still go on weekend benders, age means nowt.

Had something similar in UL called The Soup, peach schnapps, vodka, cointreau and a can of red bull, served in a pint glass. Gets you good and plastered! One of my mates had 8 one night and we had to carry him home.

would go out 2 or 3 nights a week.. On an average night I'd drink about 6 bottles of coors light and about 4 vodka and red bulls in the club to liven things up..
or if at dinner about 2 bottles of wine..
Never get really drunk.. I think it is disgraceful to see girls hammered falling all over the place puking ect.. ect. happened once to me and I was so ashamed didn't drink for weeks never again.. Know people will disagree with me but IMO theres nothing worse than seeing a girl completely hammered..
I like getting drunk and having a laugh but know my limits..
I go out 4 nights a week give or take a night depending on the mood im in, usually thursday to sundays and maybe one mid week night just for a couple(in the process of trying to cut that down to 2 nights though).
A normal weekend night would be anywhere between 10 and 15 pints and then maybe go on southern comfort and red depending on how much of a session i want to make of it (swap pints for cans of dutchy when things are bad money wise) - though if ive work the next day I try not to have more than 10 pints.
