I feel the time is now right for both the IFA and Eire FA to rejoin forces and form a United Irish Football League. Some fans may feel that this won't work, but if you use Rugby Union as a role model then yes it should work.
If both league's joined forces we would have 4 divisions (works in Scotland) and it should improve the following of clubs and the general standard within Ireland. And yes we SHOULD HAVE ONLY ONE NATIONAL SIDE like the Rugby players do.
We cannot keep ducking the idea forever and we must make some moves towards joining forces, hence this new Cup competition forward thinking not backward. Included in this league most certainly should be a reformed Belfast Celtic side all Eircom sides and all Irish League sides.
