"I got a phone call from Micky Adams on Wednesday, he told me Sheffield Wednesday wanted me to come on loan for the rest of the season and I jumped at the chance. It's a massive club, going for promotion and will be a great challenge.
"I always give 110 per cent and work hard for the team. I have only started 13 games for Coventry and scored four or five goals. That was from midfield so it's quite a good ratio but I want to start playing up front again, that's my proper position. Hopefully I'll get the chance to do that here."
Good move. Want to see Wednesday promoted and any first team football for an Irish player is good.

Other deadline day moves (so far):
Sunderland's Richie Ryan joins S****horpe on loan
Rotherham sign Michael Keane from Hull City
Anthony Gerrard (u-19 who may or may not be eligible to play for Ireland) joins Wallsall on loan for the rest of the season

Here's hoping Barrett does the business. He's done well when I've seen him play for Ireland but just never made the break through at Coventry.
He will be playing up front as the Owls' star centre forward, McLean, is out injured.
Whelan is also playing well for Wednesday and Joey O'Brien (18) whom they had on loan from Bolton did very well during his 2 months there. He looks an excellent prospect.

Thomas Butler's gone to Hartlepool, not sure of the contract details though. I read earlier in the week in the Herald they were looknig at him alright
Have never understood how Barrett gets into any irish squad. he just is not good enough. Seen him a few times when was with u-21s & never looked up to much.
I'm sure someone will mentioned the Ireland v Germany friendly at turners cross where he mixed up with John O'Flynn as had similar haircuts.

Barrett ....That Doughnut,he is no good and never will be simple as that. The only reason he is in the irish squad is because of Kerrs loyalty to his past youth players.Send him to Dundee maybe he will get a game.

graham barrett needs a season of playin up front and see how he does and then we will know if hes gud enough. good luck to him at the owls. kerr though has a bit to much loyalty to the younger lads he trained, like maybury not a senior irish international at all.

All these guys are total nothings, try and make fame and fall at the last hurdle.Just look at Roy Keane and Richard Dunne. In the past these men drank, puked, womanised etc etc but in the end knew that there were boundries so as to suceed in life. Now they are professional, winners and playing well for their country.I wish we had more with these guys attitude and maybe then we could have more players like Roy keane coming through the ranks.

I wouldn't say moving from a Championship side to a League one side is such a good move. Okay he'll get more chances to play but it will not help his Ireland career as it is well known Kerr likes his players to be playing in the top 2 flights in England, I know there has been certain exceptions, Alan Quinn, Nick Colgan etc... Guess time will prove whether I'm right or wrong.

It's only a loan spell and Wednesday are chasing promotion while his current team (Coventry) are in the drop zone so it's much of a muchness.

Scored an equlaiser on his debut today, finished 2-2, Wednesday were 2-0 down at one stage.

He was also subbed (possibly due to lack of match fitness). Alas, I suspect if Barrett was good enough he wouldn't be playing 1st Division football at this stage of his career but he's impressed me on the couple or more times I've seen him play for Ireland.

Owlsfan, is former St. Pat's 'keepr Chris Adamson at Sheffield Wednesday now?
If so, is he getting a game?

Yep, but only got one game and one as sub because regular keeper (Lucas) was injured. Adamson isn't Irish though :-(
