Think he's right Slash - the result you got has nothing to do with how many points can be deducted. Pat's drew in Belfield a couple of years ago with Mbabazi in their team and were docked thre points because he wasn't registered.
I didn't realise that, it seems strange to me, I would have thought the logical thing to do if you're deducting points would be to declare the match a win to the other team, so the point gained is lost and, in both cases, UCD get an extra two.

Shels were fined €200 for allowing Eamonn Collins to be on the technical bench while under suspension against UCD. He is also suspended for one domestic competitive match. In case there's any doubt, he has to remain at least 50 metres away from the technical area. This takes effect from Thursday April 14.

Shambles, if it was Cork they'd have docked them 400 points, booted them out of the league and bulldozed Turners Cross.

Where'd you see that? The last news item in the eL section on the FAI alleged website (http://www.fai.ie/list.asp?lid=eircom_league) hasn't been updated in two weeks...

Shels broke the rules and should be punished,no matter what the punishment is no Shels fan on this thread has denied that. The problem that neither the F.A.I. or there officials know what the rules are and lets be honest it a bit much to expect them to make up rules and then enforce them when they have a schedule like they have arranging international friendlys over the phone and eh.....that other stuff they do i mean they are only the football association.

Disgraceful decision.
So Collins gets no extra ban, just serves his original one with measly €200 fine.
This no sets a precedent for other clubs - when you have big game coming up can ignore the touchline ban, pay small fine & serve ban at later stage.

The same punishment would have happened to anyone Dave Hill,Gary Howlett or Terry Evison it just so happened to Eamonn Collins and had it happened to anyone else no shels fans would be on here saying it's a disgrace because we expect no better of the F.A.I. and neither should you. They are the joke .

Cork played 3 bangers in Belfield in 1996 having beaten us 1-0. Cork were deducted points and I think fined. We got nothing out of it and the result stood in Goals For and Goals Against. So we ended up -1 goals regardless.
Very poor decision by the FAI- not really a punishment at all IMO. Still, you'd hardly expect the FAI to do anything that might annoy Ollie Byrne

What exactly would you call a fair punishment for this crime then? All this talk of points deduction was daft, it was never going to happen (To any team) and would have been an absolutley stupid one.

a lengthy ban and a proper fine that he'd actually notice.

He should have gotten more matches, yes, but the fine thing wasn't going to happen, this isn't the premiership where people can easily do without a months worth of wages without noticing.
Ludicrous that he not get his ban extended to say 3 games.
The FAI had nothing to do with this - all the work of the eL itself.

Whats the story on this one ..... if this rule is breached by another club, the league will have to enforce the exact same penalty right ?? I mean they have thrown down the marker now, they cant really be seen to go over it now.

you'd think so, wouldn't you
Eamon Collins was seen up in the tv gantry on a mobile to Pat Fenlon during the match, Eoin Hand started talking about it then realised he might be getting him in trouble so shut up! In light of the whole Chelsea nonsense with the fella wearing the hat, is that allowed? Has Collins broken the rules again?

Perfectly legal to be in touch with the bench in the EL as far as I know. When Aaron Callaghan our assistant was supended one time he stood at the wall over the far side with a walkie talkie, nothing was said to him then, you just have to be 50 metres away from the technical area.

Seems that might be why he has to stay 50 metres away from the playing surface i.e. outside the ground. Pathetic that the eL basically acknowledge he was breaking the rules again by changing ban terms but don't say anything publically.

Be outraged anyway, it's not like you need a basis for it.

If it's legal, then fair enough. But it shouldn't be. Lets face it- the ban is utterly pointless if it can be circumvented like this. Not Collins/Shels fault, I'd do the same in the circumstances, but rule needs to be looked at if this is the case

Ahh usual Shels nonsense. Where was anyone outraged? The whole world is out to get poor Ollie Byrne and his little club, sniff sniff
