Hate watching football in pubs - watch some of the premiership matches in the pub (because i have to as I dont have sky sports) and its a pain.

Irish matches in the pub? Forget about it, good craic and all that but ye never see the match properly (i remember watchng the spain match in my gaf and went to the pub afterwards and my mates didnt even know spain were down to 10 men)

Yeah I agree there, Watching it in a pub can be annoying, A load of cans and a few people around is often the best thing in my view.

On a similar note, at Lansdowne once, two oul' ones were cheering for Clinton everytime Stephen Reid touched the ball. Ten mins later Morrison comes on as sub. They were very confused.

Dudek got injured the week before and wasnt playing. It was embarrassing being Irish that day.

I like watching games at home when there are a few of us, and cans and a bit of criac. But for the really big games, i want to be in a packed pub full of ireland fans - brilliant atmosphere, especially when we win :)

Down the boozer is the only place to watch it. I'm not flyin over for this one, so waxy's will have to do.

:rolleyes: look hobo, a lot of people would agree with me in that at home u can see the screen better and hear the crowd's atmosphere better etc. nothing more hateful than some gob$hite burning u with a fag or breathing in all that cack. But, i would agree however, big games like the world cup are better in a big hyped up crowd in a pub. Waxy o'connor's in glasgow is great for watching games, so spacious and not so much of a problem with the smoke. na-na-na-na-na

The broadcast we had of the Ireland / Spain game was in Spanish. Different variable, same result.. none of the three of us knew Spain were down to 10 men til the next day either.

Here in the States you've no choice but to head for the nearest Setanta Sport Pub to watch the Irish internationals. I wouldn't have it any other way. Can't beat the atmosphere.

The pub is the only place to be (If you can't be at the match) and record it so you can watch it again at home and see whatever youve missed...

You need to get the old atmosphere going in the pub :D

For me it depends on the game. For the qualifiers, its the pub. Hopfully this sat we will get a good crowd out, then it doenst matter which pub you go to. Most Friendlies, its not worth watching it in the pub, mid week and all.

The problem with watching the big games in a pub is that you tank up beforehand, drink more during the game and before you know it the big game you've been sh1tting planks over for 6 weeks is over in what seems like 20 minutes and you can't remember any of it.

And what's the point in shouting songs at a big screen that can't hear you? :)

That's right $Leon$. Really enjoyed the session even if the result didnt go our way. It was a lovely hot day and the 2 of us were knocking back bottles of beer. I might have risked my life by venturing into Kilmacud, but it was worth it for $Leon$'s cinema screen tv. :D

Gettin a projector for the game a few of the lads and loads of beer plus football all day...Happy days indeed! Will be taken it easy till the ireland game is over though...The Sumarine bar in Crumlin is gonna be packed to the rafters because of so little fans goin over so you'd have to get there as the doors open to get a view point.But its still a good place for Ireland fans to get together. I watched the Ireland Swiss match there in 2003 so I jinx the place for meself and won't be back untill I watch some meaningless friendly to get rid of the jinx. Plus have to have a cigarette in the hand all the time cos of the nerves so at home it has to be.....

Watched the last Old Firm game at a pub, two girls had two of the best seats in the house, and however the hell they managed it.. they talked to one another for the 90 minutes non-stop, wonder if they even took a breath.

Anyhow, if you're in a right soccer pub, they'll have the sound blaring. If any of ye are in the New York area, The Heritage in Woodlawn (McLean Ave) is always good. Usually packed for the games, something like 12 screens (including a big projector screen, quality is fine so long as you don't go comparing it to the regular screens), and the sound on good and high. Can't wait for Saturday.
