He's probably looking at Cummins and thinking he can claim his spot

Definitely. They're similar style players. Cummins is scoring, which is the main thing, but his hold up play can be frustrating at times. Hard when he's up there on his own though, I'm sure Josh would find the same. When both of them were up there against Limerick we scored immediately

Think he's got the brain to be a coach or stay involved some similar way in football.

He could start refereeing. Oh wait....

Fair play to Dundalk fans for very magnanimous posts about the game. What an absolute barnstormer it was! We've been amazing at home the last two seasons and the atmosphere last night was superb. Dundalk look clearly the best squad in the league. I've raised my ambitions from fourth to third and maybe even second, but European football would just be amazing after waiting 32 years. Best wishes to Stephen O'Donnell after a horrible injury.

It was just a dreadful ten minute period that probably changed the game, poor O’Donnell in severe pain and it clearly had a effect on our players, but to be fair Waterford worked their socks off for the whole game, sometimes a players well being has to be come first and before a result. Dundalk probably deserved a draw but far too wasteful in the final third.

Have to say very friendly scene down there, good few of us stayed over and very well received everywhere we went that night. My first trip, definitely looking forward to heading back down another time.

Jaysus. A record 8-0 win for UCD away against a side we beat 3-2 at home 10 days ago.

Also, Derry 7-3 Shels, which is also a lot of goals

Not so long ago, you guys beat us 8-1 at the RSC.

Paddy McCourts pass and Jesse Deevers finish in the last minute of time added on.......unbelievable.
Game was completely void of quality and neither side deserved to win but what a goal.

The editing of the highlights on Soccer Republic is awful. Didn't show half of Dundalk's chances, Keegan hitting the post or the contentious decision to book Duffy for diving

Agreed - In particular it seems incredible to me that they could choose to leave out the Michael Duffy booking / penalty claim and the Keegan shot that struck the post. There must be a reason other than a simple editing decision

Will be interesting to see soccer republic. I thought it was the dramatic tumble brennan took and the reaction of the Bench that got o brien sent off. We will see. We were poor even before the sending off.

What's your view now after seeing it again on SR?

So you're saying glory days ahead for Wexford? :)

(Did ye get a late consolation in that one?)

Just a bizarre selection of highlights, really, specially when they showed a couple of very innocuous Dundalk chances (a tame header, and that bit of pinball that ended with a simple take from Vigs) and yet omitted a couple more shots that, from where we were sat at least, seemed to fly just inches past the post.
Almost as if the task was entrusted to a junior staffer who maybe doesn't know or even particularly like football, but has had the mantra "always show the chances on target" drummed into them.

You can hardly get more 'on target' than hitting the inside of the post. Bizarre

Hitting the post is not on target no matter how close it is!

McCourt has always drawn plaudits for his dribbling ability but he has amazing vision for an incisive defense splitting pass and the passing skills to translate that vision into reality. He's still a great deep lying playmaker for this level.

Im a huge fan of McCourt would love to see Harps get back up.
Great weekend for Harps, follow it up with a win at Shels on Friday and you will start to pull away from the pack chasing UCD..

The first division is anything but a graveyard this year.

The combination of 40% of the places in the league meaning something and there being only three rounds of matches minimises the chance of dead rubber games. It does mean it'll be hard to catch anyone who gets their nose in front by a two game cushion though.

Hows Michael and Ciaran o Connor getting on?

Up and down really. They're starting to pick up form now though. Michael is a serious, serious talent though, and with his head screwed on should be terrorising defences in the First Division. Hopefully he can pick up a handful more goals before he leaves in July.

Ciaran had two good performances in the past two games after a sluggish start. The move to Bohs done him no favours and looks to have suffered a blow to his confidence.

On Paddy McCourt, we're very lucky to have him at Finn Harps. He's only got another year or so left in him, so we're basking in all his majesty while we're able. He's a joy to watch, even while struggling with injury.

I am certainly jealous of not seeing Paddy McCourt in a lilywhite shirt, He may have been deemed not up to fitness levels when training with Dundalk but sometimes class is just about enough. I'd have thought that Ciaran O'Connor's spell at Bohs was more a positive thing than a blow to confidence(injury aside)!?

This casts even further doubts about that booking and more importantly the non award of penalty in Waterford last week:

James Rogers‏ @jamesdundalk (https://twitter.com/jamesdundalk)

Dundalk manager Stephen Kenny questioned the editing process of Soccer Republic last night after they left out a number of key moments of last week's game in Waterford. He said he has seen footage showing Michael Duffy was clearly tripped for a penalty that wasn't given

Maybe these things even out over time
