Whilst on a pub crawl on Barrack Street in that wonderfully drunken time between X-mas day and New Years Eve, I was in some pub which had a load of old Sunderland gear on the wall. I can't remember much about my time there but I recall asking the barman where does the love of Sunderland come from and he answered something along the lines that his oul fella played for the team back in the day and also picked up some Ireland caps along the way. I know the last bit to be fact because sometime later a picture appeared of me in front of a glass case with an old Irish jersey in it. I neither remember the pub that well nor the photo being taken at all.
Anyways, if someone could tell me the name of this geezer that played ball for the Mackems I'd appreciate it 'cos a few people have asked me why am I standing drunkingly in front of old green top and I'd like to give them a proper answer...

It was the Weigh House you were in and possibly the player was Charlie Hurley.
