Draw a reasonable result between two closely match sides in Ferrycarrig tonight, although both sides will claim that they should have got more from the game – Wexford because they went in at half-time two goals ahead and Peamount because they didn’t deserve to go in at the break two goals down. Wexford started with Sophie, Nicola, Lolly, Lauren, Amy, Aoibhin, Edel, Kylie, Becky Conroy, and with Rianna playing behind Claire O’Riordan up front. The first half hour was cagey enough by both sides but with Peamount a sniff in front. The first effort on either goal came on eight minutes and it was a Peamount effort but well over Sophie Lenehan’s cross-bar. Peamount’s Lucy McCartan had a volley a yard or two wide on 12 minutes. Best chance fell to Peamount on 28 minutes when Amber Barrett’s effort took a coat of paint off the other side of the post. However, Wexford then had their golden period of the game and it started on 33 minutes when a great cross to the far post by Claire O’Riordan was headed in by Kylie Murphy for 1-0 to the home side. Claire then followed up by testing Naoisha McAloon in the Peamount goal with her left peg but the latter was able to push it away. Wexford then nearly broke from a Peamount corner before, on 41 minutes, Becky Conroy showed she has two good feet by chipping over McAloon from 25 yards out to put Wexford two goals in front. Rianna Jarrett then slightly pulled a free-kick wide to leave Wexford 2-0 in front at half-time.
