What is this rubbish? Are Waterford the only ones following the latest diktat to play that song as the teams walk out? Whose decision was this? Are the band related to someone in the FAI? Are you fined if you don't play it? Is it worth a petition to get rid of it?
Is that enough questions? Seriously, what a load of toss! Even if you didn't think it was cat, it's still a lo-fi chillout track, far from the type of hype-up song you'd expect for sport. We've walked out to Darude 'Sandstorm' for years but now have this foisted on us instead. Surely clubs should be allowed individuality. I could kind of understand if it was a classical Champions League-style anthem but it's just a piece of forgettable pop monotony. Are other clubs playing it or just us?
Was played in Galway Friday night instead of regular “brewing up a storm “its part of fai promoting and don’t know who up there decided this and fai match delegate at match asked was it been played

Chasing Abbey themselves Tweeted their delight at the song being used.
They tagged the wrong League of Ireland Twitter account in the process. Big fans of the league.
The whole thing is a bit of a joke. Loads of clubs have their own songs they play as teams are walking out, and now they cannot use them. What's the point of this?

They played Brewinf as teams were in tunnel in EDP on Friday and then played what seemed to be a turned-down yoke as teams came out, couldn’t actually make out the music. But the league chairman was at the game so maybe club felt they had to play the diktat

That's a perfect description of this Chasing Abbey dirge. Imagine the English FA telling clubs they couldn't play Blowing Bubbles, Z Cars, Blue is the Colour or whatever. Why remove the individuality in favour of the blandest franchise pop gimmick ever?

Lots of actual fans of the league do that to be fair. The FAI not having their own generic url or twitter handle is the joke.

Good question. I've never heard of it/him/her/them.
Why is everyone chasing Abbey? I never heard of her.

The league_ireland twitter is an embarrassment at best and damaging at its worst.
They used the death of Izzy to promote themselves and attacked clubs that didn't give them full access to whatever they wanted for their stupid little blog. A number of clubs won't deal with them because of how they behaved towards them.
Usually anyone creating conversations about the league etc and that should be applauded, but he is a disgrace.

Seriously? How on earth is that a walk-out song? Someone in the band must be related to someone in the FAI...

I’d imagine they want to have a common theme song for when the teams are out on the pitch like the premier league in England but as the teams come out the tunnel it should be up to the clubs. Nothing like waterford’s Theme tune of the last few seasons to pump you up for a big game.

The stupidity of this has my mind blown! With all the issues in League of Ireland football, the FAI have their match delegates out checking that clubs obeyed their music directive....and for such a terrible, terrible song. I don't even hear it because we have the drum going and sing our own thing but it just stinks of nepotism somehow.

Good, was beginning to think it was just me.

Is Chasing Abbey an Irish beat combo? It all ends for me with the Bogey Boys, I am afraid, got the missus pregnant after they played the Blue Lagoon one Thursday night and that was it for me.

Fairplay to them, still a disgrace of a choice for a walkout song. (https://www.rte.ie/entertainment/2018/0308/946034-rte-choice-music-prize-winner-announced-tonight/)

I think it's embarrassing for the band that they have their music FORCED on football fans with the threat of fines for those who don't want to play it. How's that for street cred?!

I could be wrong but I don’t think it was played in oriel on Friday night. Though I haven’t listened to much of it and don’t really know it but the music played before the teams came out was familiar enough stuff.

Ive heard people say they haven't heard it at Rovers either but I definitely have but only for a few seconds, what some clubs seem to be doing is playing their normal tunnel music then only playing the new song when the teams are walking, once they stop to shake hands the music is turned off. Pretty much means the song is on at the time when everyone in the stadium is singing/clapping so its hard to hear.
