Limerick 1-1 Bohs.

Bohs grab a point with a late goal. Poor enough game between two poor enough teams, both very limited in attack.

Galway had the expected win last night, but plenty of room for improvement; passing and control of the ball was often poor. Athlone had a decent spell for 15 minutes after half-time and scored at the end by way of a wonder strike. They look a very young squad and I think they will struggle in the division.
Danny Furlong had a fine start on his return to the LoI and he may a key player for us.

That's a big setback to Athlone's promotion chances

Poor enough game between Cork and Waterford. We were very comfortable in the first half and probably on top in midfield. Cork got on Keegan well in the second and that put us under pressure. Aborah was outstanding in the first half, but anonymous in the second. Cork were worth their win, although I think 1-0 would've been a fairer reflection. Cork had two chances and took them - we didn't create any good chance at all. Disappointed, but not at all disheartened. Winning the opening game meant we had a free pass in Cork really. Anything would've been in bonus territory and there were positives to take from what on paper is our toughest fixture - away to the champions.

Limerick v Bohs a fair result but the fare on offer was horrible especially from the home team who barely strung two passes together especially in the first half just constantly lumping the ball up the pitch.Neck brace has been ordered just in case.Sullivan ran himself to a standstill poor fella.

Decent highlights package, well put together. More clubs should be getting this done.

Sean Kavanagh looked decent when he came on for Rovers in the last 10 minutes on Friday.

He was originally reported to be joining Derry on loan from Fulham, where he was contracted to this summer. According to Daniel McDonnell in the Indo today, Kavanagh cut a deal with Fulham for a severance package before signing a season long deal with Rovers. This pay-off along with whatever Rovers are paying him, should surely leave him better off at least in the short-term. Stephen Bradley seems to suggest otherwise:

His new manager, Shamrock Rovers boss Stephen Bradley, said that arrangement involved a sacrifice.
"I could tell you that the financial aspect is unbelievable - what he left behind," said Bradley after Kavanagh came off the bench for a debut in a scoreless draw with Dundalk. "That tells you what he's about. He just wants to play football."

https://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/league-of-ireland/kavanagh-set-to-find-his-feet-at-rovers-after-fulham-pain-36642631.html

If Kavanagh is worse off after those two negotiations, he urgently needs a new agent. I wonder would his neighbour Sean Gannon (or even Karl Sheppard) point him in the right direction?

Or alternatively Bradley and kavanagh might be telling the truth. Or maybe we threw the whole kitchen at him :)

That's possible, and why I suggested that he urgently needs a new agent if that was the case. It beggars belief that he could be worse off taking his severance deal into account.

BTW, I didn't see anything attributed to Kavanagh himself.

Hat tip to Graham Cummins - he has certainly started the season in blistering form.

Big win and statement by Cork tonight

Yeah, i guessed he'd score 10-15 this season. He's scored 4 in a game and a bit. May need to revise. His finishing has been excellent, as has his general link up play.

A really disappointing and lacklustre performance from Pat's. We were second best to everything tonight, not at the races at all. No arguement whatsoever that Waterford deserved the three points.

We were a bit better in the second half but that was to be expected after our dire first half and the fact that we were one down. Hery's goal was an absolute cracker. I knew it was going in, as i'm sure he did, as soon as it left his foot.

Big game at home to Sligo now on friday, weather permitted.

BTW, I didn't see anything attributed to Kavanagh himself.

Or maybe he just wanted to play football week in week out with a few european games thrown into it too and was willing to take a slight pay cut to do that.

Just got feeling back in my toes now after the Rovers game, great game from our perspective. Though I do think we were the dominant side throughout I think 6-0 was a couple of goals harsh on Bray, they didn't trouble our goal too much but they weren't as bad as 6-0 would suggest, just turned off for 10 minutes and went from 2 down to 5 down in those 10 and that was the game over. The rest of the game resembled a sort of training match bothe teams just taking turns passing it about while not really going anywhere with Miele adding his second right at the end to compound the misery.
Overall a lot better than the Dundalk game and hopefully we can kick on from here

Bray are awful but haven't seen us score goals like that in years. Well worth the frostbite.

Dare I say it, but bray players played like they hadn't been paid.
Kavanagh looks a find, and great to see the whole teams reaction when danny Carr scored. He's clearly a popular lad with the squad.
I'll be expecting 7 now on friday, Rovers.:)

What's the chances of tonight's games going ahead, specifically the one in Dalymount?
I'd say a lot of the weekend's games are in doubt anyway.

Bohs are playing in Turners Cross. There's a better chance of that game going ahead than any other. I still wouldn't be betting on it though.

Saturday ;) If it goes ahead of course.

The 10 minutes when Rovers got three goals was fantastic, some great finishing, Bray were never at the races really, as was said worth the frostbite :)

I actually thought Bray were not that bad, some of the Rovers goals were excellent and they got over run for that short spell and conceded 3.
Bit like us at Bohs on opening night. I can easily see how they held Dundalk on opening night , at half time the game in Tallaght was in the balance.
Kavanagh looked superb , Clarke and him on the wing..if I was the Limerick rightback id be ringing in sick :)

Not so much worried about the snow, more the possibility of a frozen pitch. Would be a miserable journey to head down for it to be called off.
