- Never a red for Cummins! And now he misses his first home game Friday.
- Pat's played some lovely attacked football Friday, be interesting to see how we do though against a team that sits back. We were dangerous on the counter but there will be games where there's no counter.
- Overall, shocking defending all around the league. Majority of the goals were mistakes. You'd imagine just settling in nerves.
- Looked like a great atmosphere at Dayler
- Waterford pitch was appalling, surprised the game went ahead.
- Nice little tribute to Miller.

Didnt even look like a free kick by cummings on tv never mind a red. Can cork not appeal

Not really, he misses Friday either way. We can appeal it so that he doesn't get more than a one game ban. Madness that we lost him for most of Fridays game and all of this weeks game for a decision like that.

Red Cards can't be appealed. Any straight red is an automatic one match ban. This is then reviewed, and clubs can provide AFAIK. Usually you'd see one extra game, two if it was for violent conduct. I'd imagine in this case the evidence would be very flimsy in the first place and Cummins won't serve more than one game. We saw the same thing last year when Benno was sent off for "stamping" on Webster in the league cup. Rovers never did manage to provide the evidence of that injury and Benno only served a one game ban, though even that was too much.

cork could appeal.
agreed on poor defending
water on pitch and it was removed, good decision by refs for once
excellent tribute to miller RIP
ROLL ON NEXT WEEK, was suffering with withdrawal symptoms lately.

I can't believe that decision. I don't know what the linesman has seen there to advise that a red card be given. A free kick maybe, but that's not even a talking to let alone a yellow or red card. We'll miss him for the Waterford game now so frustrating.

Brutal show. Brutal. Will be just watching the highlights and skipping the rest again this year.
"If Dundalk improve their ground - that will have a knock on effect for other grounds" was the best bit of banality on show .
Shocking.

Outside of the big teams, most of the analysis is real threadbare stuff, like they googled a few headlines during the ad breaks they can fill 30 seconds with.

Punditry was awful, Stuey Byrne just about holds his own but Fabio is hopeless he seemed to totally bluff his way through the Dundalk ownership question. I think enough has been said in the past about Peter Collins so no change there. In a positive the quality of the footage is good on the other hand the commentator for the Dundalk v Bray game was like something from a school project it was amateur hour.

The show is grand. Most analysts waffle on anyways be it the Soccer Republic or Champions League. I was interested in seeing all the games. It's not usually the case. I wanted to see how the usual top 4 and all Munster teams got on.

Very strange commentating on the Dlk v Bray game, was done as if it was live rather than the standard 'looking back' style.
Never a red for Cummins in the Pats v Cork game, but Bennett very lucky not to have got at least a yellow for pushing the ref, unbelievable he wasn't carded.

I don't know how anyone watching on tv can be sure of what happened with the Cummins incident as the camera angle is so front on and flat that it's impossible to tell what he did or didn't do. The only angle you can understand that incident on is from the side which, perhaps not incidentally, is the angle the referee and assistant would have had.
To be clear, I'm not saying the offence, if there was one, was a red card. Just that the tv angle makes it impossible to tell.
On the presentation and punditry... it was especially disheartening that the first comment about the Bohs/Rovers game was, "why was that so awful?"

I strongly disagree.
Collins continues to be a stiff wooden plank who brings absolutely nothing to the show.
Stuey Byrne is just about bearable, but Fabio O'Brien is just wojus (did he even research anything before his bluster about Oriel Park?)
It could get even worse when/if Dave Barry is back

Joanne Cantwell with a rotation of Kerr, Cawley, Sadlier, Duff and Devine and I'd be happy enough to watch it. Watched about ten minutes of it on Monday, the commentary on Dundalk was just beyond terrible.
I'd prefer to see live commentators actually there watching the matches, with commentary being broadcast over the league website and recorded for use on Soccer Republic.
Cummins hearing was today. No additional ban on top of the automatic ban on Friday. Such an utterly ridiculous system. He missed most of last Friday, and will now miss his first home game, for an officials mistake, which no avenue to overturn it. Stupid.

The fact that there is no further suspension speaks volumes.

For me, that says if shouldn't have been a red, hands down. If it was a deserved red, then it's a red for violent conduct and an additional suspension is a must.
In this case, obviously they felt there was no violent conduct and so it shouldn't have been a red. But they allow no avenue to actually rescind the red, and allow him to play Friday. I'm sure they're happy sending out the fine for the red card too. Ridiculous.

He has always been that way inclined as a pundit and seemed like he was grooming himself as a contrary type or as Dunphy would claim that its calling a spade a spade. I think Sadlier is a good pundit in general and he doesnt shirk challinging the likes of Dunphy himself; but when doing his league of Ireland stuff on SR he can come across as quite patronising at times as he must see himself as the senior panelist (Kerr does it too so maybe its a St Pats thing:p)

Given that the one-game suspension stands regardless I don't think you can read that into it. Could just as easily have decided it was reckless and a red but a one-game ban will suffice. We don't have an automatic three-game ban for violent conduct like they do in England.

Its daft that there isnt a UEFA wide standardisation of this part of the rule book. It would make the FAI make some sensible changes to the disciplinary system at least. Considering that a domestic league allows access to UEFA competition you'd think that rules governing suspensions, rescinding cards, appeals etc would be a set part of UEFA regulations. That said it shouldnt take UEFA or anyone else to ensure some common sense on some things. If a player is red carded and say its mistaken identity can that card be appealed or rescinded here?

Theres no option to appeal the original red. I'd be pretty confident if we could appeal it we would have been successful. You never see a straight red not get an additional game ban unless it wasn't actually a red in the first place. Similar to Alan Bennetts red in the League Cup semi last year that was so bad that Dave Webster had to get plastic surgery to repair the damage. Hes going to be in Cork tonight, I suspect he'll get an interesting welcome.

Possibly, but I doubt it. I've never seen a deserved straight red not get at least 1 game additional. There's usually only no additional when it's 2 yellows.

Is anyone watching the show on the RTÉ Player finding it very patchy or is just me:confused:
Download speed i'm getting here currently 760 kbps.
Had it casting on tv, but brought it back to the laptop screen to see if it would improve - it didn't.
Also reloaded it,no improvement.

I'm watching it and it seems fine. I do sometimes get the problem you're describing with new stuff to the player so it might still be their end where the problem is.
On another note episode 1 seems to be down already? Thought shows were normally put up for a month or thereabouts?

Had the same here, but that download speed could be your problem. That's less than a Megabit per second. On a 100Mb fibre line here and I found it near impossible to watch.
