Martin Russell is going to manage the team this pre season.
FAI have pulled all funding from it according to reports last night.
Seems to be sour grapes after a fallout this year on a few topics between FAI and players association (still b*ll*x FAI should cough up it is for development of players on the fringes of the professional game in this country ffs, hardly huge amounts either).

Who would your unsigned team include?? base it on released players if possible not the unsigned but probably will sign again stars.

Nice of the FAI to give a dig out to young unemployed players:mad:

yeah they seem full of concern.
i`d expect Russell to name a few of the lads recently released in Neil McDonald`s Cull at Limerick.
seeing as he won division 1 in record time only 12 months ago with a lot of them playing week in week out.

You have to commend CX for providing gear for this when there was no obligation and the FAI told them to fcuk off

If Cx get kudos for doing it this year, don't the FAI for doing it all the other years?

To be fair they did, far as I can remember anyway wasn't a bad word said about them regarding it and fair dos mentioned over the years. Absolute BS from the FAI about short notice for pitches and blaming the switch to New Balance. It's the exact same supplier as before, just Courtnay had a falling out with Umbro so went to New Balance, and sure that was all done and dusted over the summer at the latest.

To blame the kit supplier swap months after the fact for what would amount to about 20 bits of kit and a few footballs and short notice for unlocking the gates to the pitch for something they've known has happened at this time every year for the past decade is completely disingenuous from the FAI. I'm no fan of McGuinness and his player agents "union" that is anything but, but it's definitely a case of the FAI sticking the knife in where they can for previous issues this year.

Just to clarify for anyone that might be confused:

The FAI is the governing body for association football in the 26 counties. It is based in Abbotstown, where the PFAI maintain an office to the best of my knowledge.

Cx are a private company.

Glad we could clear that up. :good:

Wasnt this the fixture that was played abroad a number of years against the Finnish free agents, for example, that everyone called a junket for the lads of the PFAI? There was some rubbish spouted during the issue with the ladies team like changing in an airport toilet was true but the reason was wasnt lack of use of changing rooms in abbotstown. It was requested by players as a convenience to speed up getting home or out for drinks. There was plenty of spin by the PFAI on that occasion - obviously they had great masters in the FAI to follow.

Am I the only one whom thinks all the blame should lay solely with the PFAI? If the sufficient planning was in place surely it would of been known the FAI weren’t going to aid them this year. Seems very last minute thrown together with a compete lack of planning.

It means last year the tournament was a waste of money, but this year it's a joke three FAI aren't pumping money into it.

Neither side come out of it very well.

The PFAI appear to be very presumptuous and think that the FAI should jump when they demand something at short notice. Perhaps, they think that kicking the FAI at every opportunity is the way to get support for their members.

As the body charged with the governance of the game in Ireland, the FAI should be able to rise above attacks from the PFAI and to support out of contract players. Such magnanimity appears to be beyond them.

Should the FAI be putting money into this? It is for players registered with the PFAI to basically go on trial for foreign leagues to scout them. The cost of this exercise should come for the player union dues as it basically a service they are providing to their out of contract players & in no way helps the domestic league.

I'd rather see the money used to pay in the past by the FAI for this trip used in some other way in the league, but that actually happening is another thing.........

Where did Joe gorman play last season?

Brandon Payne was with Celtic.
Mark O'Connor, I believe is a young goalkeeper who played with Newbridge in the LSL.
Jack Clancy could be a young player who played college football in America before playing in Iceland with a lower league side. He was previously in the underage setup at Dundalk.
Joe Gorman played for Airdrie in Scotland.

Is McCabe not contracted to Pyongyang?
