Yazdani joins Shelbourne

03/03/2005 - 10:01:19 AM

Former Republic of Ireland youth international winger Hussain Yazdani has joined Shelbourne.

The 20-year-old has signed a one-year contract with the Premier Division champions after spending the end of last term at Shamrock Rovers after being released by English club Coventry City last summer.

Tricky and pacy, the Dubliner was in the same underage side as rising Irish stars Willo Flood and Mark Yeates at Cherry Orchard and he is determined to prove his worth at Shelbourne this season.

“I’ve just signed this contract but my mind is already on earning another contract at Shels.”

Not as high profile as their other signings but why do they need another winger? Surely the ones they have already are amoungst the best in the league and most are pretty young too.

+ this new guy, all playing for 2 spots? Doesnt make much sence for a club in such debt

He can play right back and that's where we played for us pre season afaik. We badly, badly need cover for Heary as anyone who was at the match in Longford at the end of last season will tell you, Stuart Byrne is our second choice there atm and firstly is a poor right back and secondly is a brilliant central mid fielder, so moving him does nobody any good.

Hussain Yazdani is not a right back - he is a right-sided midfielder.

He only came on in place of Owen Heary in the Kildare game because there was nowhere else to play him at that stage, given the subs already made.

In the Hartlepool game on Tuesday he came on and played in place of Richie Baker. As it happens Baker will probably now fill in for Heary if required

Anyway, Yazdani was signed for the U/21s.

btw - Pat Fenlon isn't finish 'buying & selling' yet?

Who's he sold?

Shels are so f€cked if they dont get a good run in europe and the Setanta cup this year.

Ye still havent said why ye need another winger?

Ya but the point of the U21s is to develop players so they can come into the first team & he clearly doesnt have a hope of that (although how old is he? 19ish?). Surely he would have been better off getting somewhere near the first team with Rovers.
