Blues pull plug on Vikings friendly

2nd March '05

DUBLIN CITY FC could be facing a blank weekend after Waterford United pulled out of a pre-arranged friendly to take up an offer to take on local south-east rivals Kilkenny City.

"We had everything in place for the game on Saturday afternoon when we got word by text that they were pulling out of the fixture," said a disappointed chief executive Ronan Seery.

"We hope to have a game in pacae by close of business today," added Seery. "But I'm annoyed by the way the Waterford game fell through. We had put a lot of effort into arranging the game and it left us chasing an alternative fixture at a time when most clubs had their own arrangements in place. We don't want to miss out on an opportunity to get some match practice in, but Waterford have left us with precious little time with their belated decision to play Kilkenny," said an annoyed Seery.

^MEANWHILE, former Dublin City manager John Gill could be out of a job just days after being appointed as assistant manager to Pat Dolan at Cork City.

Pulling out of the fixture by text...disgraceful stuff indeed.
