A good first month and well done to all 11 nominations!

Without further ado; the winner of the first ever foot.ie Post of the Month Compeition and the invisible prize is...........

Tiktok in his drunken state with this cracker;

Ruairi, It has confused many, since the parents are known sex addicts

Greg was gay.Peter's love of Marcia was unrequited, she being far out of his league, all the time leaving Peter unaware of jan's true feelings for him (resulting in an ugly jealously of her older and much prettier sister.
Bobby and Cindy got as close as any possible couple, playiong 'doctor' a few times, the guilt of those episodes resulted in the pairs' later drug related problems.

Anyway, the sight of Alice would put anybody off!

....by the way, I might be just the slightest bit tipsy after a day of sport in the pub

Read the full thread here (http://foot.ie/showthread.php?t=21993) !

The runner up this month for a post that really made us laugh-and just to prove i'm not biased has to go to Shedite for this one:

And you're from Cobh too ..... bad time all round.

Full thread can be read here (http://foot.ie/showthread.php?t=21650)

Well done again! Febuary and MArch are trial months and at the end i'm probably going to see if we can get a poll on whether to keep it or not so if you're up for it get you're nominations in through March with the URL!

It's open at the moment-it's only the 4th of May look at the forum!!

re. cancelling the March one hope ya ain't taking the mick? I cancelled it because there was so many crappy posts about the Holy Father and considering the winner would have been announced during the 9 days mourning I, as a Catholic, really didn't feel like judging a webforum POTM comp when I was mourning for my Holy Father....that's all.

dahamsta

I wasn't taking the mick. As a non-practising Catholic I find it humourous that the Pope could mean that much to someone, therefore I found your post funny. I reckon a few others did too. I guess if you find that disrespectful - that's not the intention btw - you won't want to accept the nomination, and it's your POTM comp so it's your call.

Some people are actign the eejit on here as the POTM comp for APril is up now! I am not going to post a link because you should know how to look at the top of a page
I PERSONALLY didn't feel like judging the competition whilst mourning for the Holy Father-if you've got a problem with that give me your hotmail adresss and we can sort it out on MSN rather than clogging up the board!

Theres a PM function if anyone waits to debate off the board.

Is foot.ie a secular forum?

Unless the "v" in vbulletin stands for vatican, it was ridiculous. You cancelled something, gave no notice or reason until a month later and then attempt to justify it by the death of a polish man in italy

BEcause you sent me so many PM's, e-mails and put up so many messages on the support forum asking where it was?
No one seemed to care until I said about the Pope!!
Ok mabye I should have justified it-fair play that was wrong but even you can accept that yes he was Polish and lived in The Vatican but he was my Pope and meant a lot to me-surely you must understand that?

No, quite frankly I can't. I accept that you believe it, but I don't understand it. It seems utterly ridiculous to me

I know i'm going off topic here but just a question here for you Liam. Do you really think cancelling a meaningless Off Topic internet poll did anything to mark the Pope's passing? I mean, what exactly did you allow yourself to do over the period of mourning. I think you are verging on extremism with this one. Don't get me wrong, i admire you and you're dedication to your beliefs. I can't seem to even come to a finality in what i actually believe but there you are committed and proud which is certainly commendable. I am just curious as to how you can allow one aspect of your life and existence on this earth influence everything else to such a large degree.

I can understand why Hindu's believe what they do.
I can understand why the IRA blew up buildings in London during the 70's.
I can understand why people thought that Hitler would be good for Germany.

Even though there are things that I don't believe and never could, and even though some of them seem ridiculous to me I can still understand them .

It's a shame you can't.

Mabye you should make an effort to undertstand other people's beliefs even if you don't agree with them before branding people faith as 'ridiculous'.

Fair question. I went to Mass, set up a wee shrine in my room, hung out my Papal flag and said a lot of prayers (as I still do). I also made every effort to spread the word about all the Pope did for this world and thanked God every day for him.
As I earlier said-doing these things overshadowed judging the competition. Mabye it was the wrong thing to do but it just didn't feel right at the time me coming on here in between prayers and masses to judge an internet poll. Mabye some of you won't ever understand that but I hope at least some of you do.

Look. People are entitled to their beliefs as far as I'm concerned. I have no problem with that, whatsoever, no matter how ridiculous they may seem to me. people can worship the ****ing sun lounger in their back garden as some form of deity for all I care. But I'm not going to pretend i understand for a moment why the death of an old polish man has ANY significance to anyone in ireland or elsewhere who didn't know him. I'm not going to lie and say I do, just for the sake of it. Believe what you like Liam, nobody's stopping you, but if i chose to believe that these things are ridiculous, then is that not my right too? the issue here isn't people's beliefs at all- its your decision to involve religion in something that has nothing to do with it. Thats what ****ed me off.

Lads, liam88 runs the POTM comp off his own bat for Foot.ie. If he decides not to do it, for whatever reason, that's his decision. If you think you can do better, put up or shut up.

Éanna, although I agree with your point in principle, I think your manner of putting it across is a bloody disgrace. I know damn well you wouldn't accept that behaviour from a poster, so cop yourself on please.

This is all pretty pointless debate but...

You are entitled to your beliefs just like others are entitled to contradict those beliefs. I'd don't share your beliefs but didn't for one second suggest that you were not entitled to mark the death of the Pope in your way. Similarily you can't turn around & say others should treat the funeral in the same way as you do.

IMO religion is a person matter & either side trying to enforce thier beliefs on others is a Fanatic.

Pete and Éanna I'm sorry if I caused any offence and I hope that's it. thanks for your work modding the forum.
Hope we don't argue again :)

I'm going to nominate this. Clearly not meant to be offensive in the slightest but short of throwing shards of jagged glass at the poor boy I can't imagine how you could have demeaned him more. Legendary! :)
