Munchen/Wien

Anyone know the (true) driving time between Munich and Vienna? I'm getting anything from 3.15hrs to 8.15hrs on the net.

i would have a rough guess at 4 hours, but not definite. it is difficult finding distance between cities on the internet, i was trying that for german cities last week, pain in the a*se :D

...and the map i bought gives a time of 9.07hrs on it!!! The one i would imagine to be probably right is avg speed 45mph - 5.5hrs; avg speed 55mph - 4hrs; avg speed 70mph 3.2hrs. Despite the Autobahn rules I say we'd be hard pressed to average 70mph but breaking 4hrs looks manageable all the same. Basically, it's 280 miles. I did 140miles from here to Galway the other day and that took 3hrs with a lot of traffic delays and sh!t roads so should expect to be able to do 140miles in around 2hrs over there.

yup i do think 4 hours should do it as long as you go at a reasonable speed. They have great motorways so it helps. i am going to be in munich around 23-30 march, can't wait! supposed to be a great place :D :D
