Dont take this wrong but how are clubs meant to prepare for upcoming season when they dont even know what division they are in Secretary s getting phone calls saying that you will be going up a division without even consulting with the management.

Goes without saying Cork aul couldn't organize a P**s up in A brewery

Does anyone know for sure what clubs were asked to move up a division ?
and also one would presume there will have been very little teams relegated.
Also are we still operating with a
Structure of
Premier
Premier A
Division 1
Division 2
Division 3.

Putting teams up a division with out consultation isn't right but teams pulling out is a disaster from an organisational perspective.

There should be some punishment in place eif you pull a team e.g they can't return for 2 seasons this might stop them from pulling the team.

No division 3 this year according to leftside. Usually the clubs that withdraw from the league don't come back . There are a few exceptions but usually they are gone for good

According to the Killumney Utd Facebook page they are going back as a 3rd division side so that suggest 3 divisions.
You would expect them to stroll through Division 3 if it's the team that were premier less than 18 months ago.

It won't be the team that used to play premier. Sure that would be a waste of time for everyone involved. It will be young lads just looking for a game of ball, nothing too serious.

Most of them jumped ship when Mick pulled the plug on giving them pints after the games

Haha, not true. But whatever people want to believe is fine. There was no manager to manage the team, simple really. The training and level of effort required was intense. We usually wouldn't even go back to the pub after matches. 100% never after an away game. Some home games yes but it depended on a few things and certainly no free pints. The rumours around the club are very funny to read.

Lads sections have gone up on website http://www.corkaul.com/2017/08/league-sections-for-season-2017-18.html?m=1
I'll let ye judge for yourselves there are a lot of new B teams gone in . A few teams jumping two divisions or even dropping down two divisions. One of the 3rd divisions is going to be very interesting.

Springfield will be strong this year. Have gotten lots of former players back with them and some decent younger lads coming through. Won the Barry Wall pre-season. Good to have them on the up again

Think something has to be done about games being called off every year its the same some teams haven't kicked a ball since the start of December very hard to keep fellas interested when they know the game is going to be off.
I think something like a sports centre would be a good idea have a couple of sand based pitches and a full astro or the aul invest in a full astro rent it out money from tht would pay for it
Just an opinion but sure no doubt will be slated

fruice
18/02/2018, 8:19 AM
I've been thinking the same thing for a while.
Start with an Astro and 1 sand based pitch and go from there.
They would be intitled to a lot of grant money also.
The Kerry league have an Astro and this keeps things over through the winter.
A big question is where would you build it to give access to all clubs.

onlooker
18/02/2018, 8:49 AM
The future SHOULD be geared towards Astro and sand based pitches for all teams/clubs eventually. I watch alot of games on astro pitches both full size and small sided games and the standard of football on view is improving all the time, the older players (early 20's onwards) are becoming more skillful and the younger guys (12's up) have some incredible skills and confidence and attempt to do things that I would never have dreamed of all those years ago. It is my opinion that if we had level playing pitches and a bit of nice weather then our game would improve in leaps and bounds. A lot of financial investment for sure but it would all pay off in the long term. If we compare your local soccer pitch with that of your local GAA pitch you can be assured in most cases that the playing surface of the GAA pitch is far superior and they dont use it for anything but running on as their games are for the most part played in the air. In Cork surely local farming communities could be persuaded to prepare SOCCER fields to a GAA standard at a fraction of the cost of what a sports field contractor charges. They already have all the equipment and the know how. Any thoughts?
