I'm actually cautiously optimistic that we might just get something on Sunday, maybe catch Cork while they're a bit distracted by Europe. Between that and our new signings it doesn't look quite so hopeless as it did this time last week. Am I completely crazy ?

Harps 1-0 up since 5 minutes. Eddie Dsane got his first for the club straight from a free kick around 20 yards out.

Drogheda have hit the bar too but overall Harps look the much better side.

Well we are the first clear relegation team - cannot see us avoiding the drop as the team has zero fight in it. Long long long painful wait till the end of the season .... best of luck to harps , I hope you guys stay up

Can't see us winning another game at this stage

Great wins for Harps & Galway. Hope they can both escape the drop as its the 2 best away trips in the league.

Brilliant win for Galway but they've played two more games than most of those around them.Points on the board etc better than games in hand but if you were a supporter you'd still be rale worried.

Some goal by Ronan Murray in Terryland tonight, and a vital win for Galway. While it is going to be difficult I still feel Galway can avoid the bottom 3 by the end of the season mostly due to the apparent good spirit in the squad. We also need a bit more of the luck we got tonight which has been absent in many other games. Great travelling support from Limerick which underlines the important of both clubs being in the same division.

Murrays Goal was class and the other two weren't bad either. Crowd looked more like 1,800 and great travelling support .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_podizf6spE&sns=fb

Enjoyable game in Drogheda last night, always nice to visit United Park when Dundalk are not playing.

Harps were much the better side, Drogheda look like they have lost their way. They were building a nice team in the first division last season.

I feel sorry for Pete and Giller, they are victims of their own success last season. Promotion came a year too early.

Ah you're right, I don't think anybody is getting carried away. We play Drogheda United, Cork City and Finn Harps in our next three league games. Those games will probably decide our season. We need six points, minimum.

Very important 3 points away to a relegation rival the most important games to be taking points from,by all accounts we were the better side abeit against a Drogheda side in freefall.
Next week will be a sterner test against a Bohs side improving all the time.

Great game at the Bowl last night. First time all season I've actually enjoyed a first division game. Two teams playing beautiful football. How we weren't 3 or 4 up first half is a mystery. Second half UCD could have stole it but Skinner made 2 great saves as we pushed forward for a winner. Never seen such a change in playing style in such a short space of time. Fenn has some future ahead of him, can't see us holding on to him too long. Has all the makings of another Stephen kenny.

He's had two games in charge! Let's give him a little bit longer before we get carried away. That said he does sound very impressive with his ambitions and ideas and everyone has noticed the improved style.

Not sure if outspoken was watching the same game as the rest of us. Poor enough fare for the most part. "Beautiful" football is daft; hate to think what ye've been watching if you thought that was beautiful. Agree Longford were better first half and we were better the second.

9 points from the last seven matches; frustrating to be slipping up when Waterford and Cobh are too.

Big game next week. Should be a huge one, but Fran Gavin is an idiot.

Good analysis Allan. Can't argue with any of it, especially the last part. Most of the squad needs to be shown the door at the end of season if not sooner. Too many passengers.
That said I'm beginning to get worried by Mcdonalds team selection and substitutions. Some players he's continually picking needs to be dropped.
Last night was an utter shambles!

Alan Cawley was at the game, he said it was enjoyable to watch, two teams playing the game the right way. Your right tho that we are probably getting carried away after watching the tripe of earlier this season but all Town fans in attendance were blown away with the football we played first half. Second half we got tired as not use to playing that style and UCD could have nicked it. Really enjoyable game tho.

I'm not really interested what Alan Cawley said about a match I was at tbh.

"Pants" was the phrase we agreed on at the match, coloured by frustration of course; we should be beating the likes of Longford handy enough, though missing our two biggest attacking threats cost us.

I've seen worse matches for sure. "Beautiful" it was not though. You've an awful habit of getting over-effusive about mundane stuff really.

UCD were poor compared to the last time I saw them when you absolutely passed us off the pitch first half up there. You resulted to a lot more long balls last night which said a lot about how we played first half. Second half UCD should've picked us off on the break with young Tristan clearly carrying a knock for us and leaving huge spaces in behind. Anyway, on we go, fancy us to beat waterford next week.

If it stays this way, Cork need just 7 wins and a draw from the last 13 games to secure the title - and that's if Dundalk win every match from now to the end.

We beat Pat's by a goal. Penalty didn't look like a penalty. We played well, hit the woodwork a few times. Pat's keeper was absolutely fantastic. Man of the match for me and some top quality saves.

Sounds like Garvan threw a punch at halftime in the tunnel. Silly from him.

Another good win, even if our finishing was pretty poor.

Wonder why cork players feel the need to throw themselves like that for a penalty?
Afterall they never committ fouls and are the "greatest team in loi history"

What's the view then from Cork fans on the peno? Let be honest now, was it one of those 'I've seen them given' or was it very soft? The Pats official twitter was fairly to the point saying it was a dive by Dooley.

Anyway 7 more wins needed assuming we match all Cork's result (as mentioned above) and they are over the line. I think they might win it in early October though, they are bound to drop points during the euro games, it will be interesting what the margin will be over Dundalk in the end, it might be single figures yet.

Disappointing to read if this was the case then, from reports it appeared Cork 'battered them' (couldn't resist) for the second half, no need to go looking for pens then.

Thought being a Dundalk fan you'd be well used to seeing players throw themselves down. :D

I was at the other end but I never thought it was a pen.
I thought Beattie lost his footing going around the Pats player.
Others around me said they saw a leg going in but I didn't see it that way at all.
The Referee & the linesman on that side seemed pretty sure they saw something ?
I'm sure SR will show it in detail.

It ended 1-0 but it could have been much more.
O'Malley was brilliant in goal for Pats & we missed some awful chances.
Just glad to get the 3 points.

From where I was sitting it looked like a pen, but the majority view on the City forum is that it clearly wasn't. From what I remember my angle wouldn't have been very dissimilar to the ref's but the linesman would have had a better view of it.

There was a good shout for a peno a bit before the incident so maybe the officials were making up for that???

Comprehensive victory for Derry in rain-drenched Maginn yesterday. In truth, 5 or 6 nil wouldn't have been unfair to Sligo.
Bar the first 10 minutes, Sligo produced very little, and we dominated. New signing Darren Cole started for ourselves, played well and could have had a goal. Rory Patterson still looks sluggish, but improving.
Special mention for our fourth goal, Rory Holden's first senior one for the club. Lovely move and finish.

I'd expected a bit more from Sligo, especially considering they beat Shamrock Rovers last week. Schlingermann had a good game, but that's about it. In the second half, Sligo certainly looked like a squad consigned to relegation. Worrying stuff.

Worked out that it was a fairly good result for Galway overall. The bottom half of the loi?? Bohs will be safe imo.Drogs not showing anything after the break look worse than before it and i think they're gone? Harps,as always battling away,Sligo in a bit of a free fall,if not corrected could be fatal. & Pats hard to judge.New lad gets red so he's gone for next week.
Some scrap.

Surely it's been watered enough though? At least in the north-west, it's been fairly wet so far this summer. Kenny Shiels was complaining about it back in April/May too, after which Galway said it was already well watered.
Must be something more fundamental.
