Decent 1st half. Full blooded stuff from both sides.

I might backtrack on my hope for Hoolahan to start. O'Neill has picked a big physical team and frankly we've needed it.

This game is crying out for Hoolahan. Hendrick has done nothing for 45 minutes. Bring on Wes in his stead, and Murphy's first touch is poor.
Wes in for Hendrick and Hogan/Maguire for Murphy. If you're to be taken seriously Martin give your team a chance of winning this game.

Hopefully he gives something like that a go for at least the last 25 minutes if it stays goalless until then. No point in leaving it too late.

typical irish away performance that we have always seen for many a year. not sure how anyone ever expects anything else. weve weathered the early storm now need to become a bit braver and take the game to wales

Welsh moaning at ref is driving me nuts.

We need to take a chance at some stage. Maguire and Hoolahan need to come on soon. Has Hendrick done anything?

Brutal reviews of games quality on twitter right now. What an amazing ability to unite the whole world in complaints, has Twitty.

Well now, James McClean has just smashed the ball into the back of the net, in case anybody missed it.

On a knife edge, now Wales need to score to put us out. Don't ya just know it is all gonna go horribly wrong?

I had Christie for the first goal so mixed feelings, I will never see that 25p again though.

Lol yes I forgot about that, it is still on 0-0 there.

That dummy by Arter was something of pure beauty. Took out the entire Wales defence with one step.

Scared the ****e out of the baby when he scored there. Not literally thankfully.

This next half hour will not be fun

Well now indeed. Vindication for not bothering with this whole passing the ball business ?

I really wish we'd push on for a second now instead of defending a 1-0 lead...

Now's the time for Shane Long to run at the Welsh defence and put them on the back foot a little - sounds on the radio like Murphy is tiring.

Whoops, tuned in five minutes into the game and when I went to check the line-ups on the BBC I didn't realise the Long mentioned on the subs bench was Kevin. Ok so, time for Maguire/Hogan/O'Dowda/McGeady to come on and run at the Welsh defence and put them on the back foot a little - sounds on the radio like Murphy is tiring

I have been watching the Welsh channel, you get all the emotion but I could not understand a word of it, it is a pretty good way to watch!

Not sure I'd go that far.

Defensively we were superb, Duffy in particular. We had their number at the back and Wales ran out of ideas long before the final whistle.

I didn't think we looked like scoring at all until we did, but then Wales never looked like getting back into it.

I think the story of this campaign is that we got the playoff on the road, and blew the chance to win the group at Lansdowne Road.

Was tongue in cheek. From a footballing point of view we were atrocious. Most people won't care though. Even the RTÉ panel backtracking furiously. Turns out Eamonns footballing principles aren't so pure after all.
