Hopefully he's grown a bit of a back bone and is not the same weasel that got out of his Dundalk contract in 2010

Glad they took a little time and didn't go for one of the usual suspects. Bit of a shame Gary Cronin didn't get it given the years he's put in as an assistant but that's football. Fenn seems to have a bit of experience with coaching young players too so hopefully he has some ideas on how to keep up the apparent recent progress in the underage set up.

He showed a Ruthless mentality, exactly what we need 😂

I am a bit surprised by the appointment but think that its good to get someone that never played with us so long as it doenst end up with the way Gareth Cronin and Alan Gough departed us. Think he was Drogheda asst mgr when Damien Richardson was manager but stand corrected. Was Leyton Orient the last club he was coach?

Any early signs of what to expect from the Fenn regime at the weekend or too early to tell?

Yep, his style of play is very very clear. Not once the other night were any of the players allowed to kick long, especially the goalkeeper who had to play every kick out short, although it created problems when CABO wised up and pushed up on the kick outs, that's when we should have mixed things up with a few long balls but Fenn wouldn't allow it and we were nearly caught out with risky play at the back a few times. We had about 90% of the ball the other night, never seen us have so much possession in a a game ever but a lot of it was just backwards and sideways stuff in our own half. The crowd will have to become more patient with this style of play as they started to get on the players backs a little and demand the ball was kicked long.
All in all it was clear that the same problem is going to catch up with us under Fenn and that's the lack of an in form striker although hopefully Sully can reignite when he comes back. Havo and O'Reily has the potential to be a title winning partnership. Friel improving week on week at RB too. All in all I'm excited for the future under Fenn.

I imagine when he starts to recruit his own players he'll be able to develop the style from lateral passes to more creativity. He's said and done all the right things so far, I'm optimistic.

heard on the 98 fm podcast that Daire Doyle is linked with a move back to us. I think and him Neale Fenn were involved with an underage side in Dublin and know each other well. Daire is getting on though thats the only thing!

He's a player coach at Cabinteely isn't he? Might be looking at something similar with us. He was very popular around the place when he was here previously and he's always been a great professional, would be good to see him back.

Doyle would be a decent signing as the two times I've seen him this season, he's not only a player and a coach on the pitch, he also referee's the game too. It's unbelievable to watch him in action. And the guy who's actually assigned to ref the game just lets him away with it. At one stage on Saturday I thought the ref was going to consult Doyle on a decision he wasn't quite sure about to get his opinion on things.

Haah was literally about to say the same thing. I actually said on Saturday he'd be a good signing, he'd bring the leadership and lack of horrible b*astardness we need.

Daire Doyle? He was the one player that didn't **** off after we were relegated right? How any of ye want him back is amazing - bone useless. He was rubbish back then, and when I have watched him since, he was no better. No point getting a lad like that in now with the season pretty much over.

it looks like its not going to happen now but he was a tiny minimum that stayed after relegation.

He was the only one still under contract at the time we went down which would been the main reason he stayed. He signed a two year deal when he joined.

So Curran, Walsh and Langtry are gone. Walsh was only okay. Galway fans talked him up. Curran isn't really a loss, and I thought Langtry was decent the few times he played. I'd be concerned that we're very light up front with Curran leaving.

I expect Fenn will bring in a few players to replace them now their wages are freed up. Anyone know when Davy will be fit?

We're signing Sam Verdon apparently. Midfielder released by Pats last week.

I had a feeling he may end up with us. Not sure why. I've seen very little of him is he any addition?

Seeing Fenn retweeting interviews by Guardiola discussing tactics, fills me with more hope than any Longford manager has in a long time, says a lot really, about me and the club :D

Old news but I know it's a question that was on a lot of people's mind at the time, Fabio O'Brien says there was an attempt to get him to play for us back in 2016 while he was fitness coach. Spoke to Paul Finnegan and Sam Verdon on the podcast tonight. Very very impressed by what Finnegan had to say, learnt an awful lot that we didn't know about him. If he plays as well as he speaks Hel be top class. Take a listen here - https://www.mixcloud.com/BetweenTheStripes/between-the-stripes-loi-podcast-megashow-episode-7/

Good debut from Verdon last night. Not the quickest player but a big tall lad who looks after the ball well and gets stuck in, just what we need really. Fenn admitted it wasn't a great performance especially first half but great to see don get an assist doing what he's best at beating his man and delivering a pin point cross, more of that please. Still missing a striker to thread balls into while I can't believe paul Skinner is still our number one. Fenn said he's looking to do more business this week so I can't see why we couldn't win at least 5/6 of our last 7.
Also big shout out to Tristan. Thought he was suspect the last few weeks but really bounced back last night. Solid as a rock defensively and scored a peach of a goal. Well done to the lad

it was Tristans first ever goal for us I believe. as for our sending off it was absolutely disgraceful to see one of our subs only on for a few minutes and he gets sent off when it wasnt him that did this. can anyone explain this to me?
except for the last part of the game when we were down to ten men we played fierce well. Skinner was shocking yet again last night with his kicking.

What ya on about Marty? Dillon pushed your man over, it wasn't a red card by any means but it was Dillon who did it.
