Wexford will be pleased with the three points on offer in Ferrycarrig tonight to go top of the table, but in truth it wasn't the most convincing of performances as they didn't push on after getting the early goal. Wexford started with Sophie, Linda, Nicola, Lolly, Jenny, Aoibhin, Jess, Kylie, Becky, Emma and with Claire up front. Wexford started well and looked like the obvious winners after an encouraging start. On two minutes, Becky Cassin shot wide after connecting with a cross from the very energetic Claire O'Riordan. Peamount then had an effort wide of goal after a good move down Wexford's left. On 12 minutes, Claire robbed McAloon in the Peamount goal in the act of clearing, but the angle was too wide to punish the Peamount error. Two minutes later, Wexford went ahead when a corner by Emma Hansberry appeared to end up directly in the net after going through a forest of bodies. Ryan-Doyle of Peamount then had a good shot on target which Sophie Lenehan in the Wexford goal made the save look easier than it was. Both sides then had a chance apiece with Kylie Murphy having a header saved by McAloon in the Peamount goal and a Peamount attacker miscuing when in front of the Wexford goal. The game then deteriorated into a series of aimless thumps up the pitch by both sides and half-time arrived with Wexford ahead and neither keeper having really being tested to any great degree.

The second period wasn't much better as both sides found it hard to create chances. On 12 minutes, Wexford were lucky to clear a Peamount corner off their goal-line and, three minutes later, Peamount also struggled to clear a Wexford corner. Substitutes at this stage by Wexford were Siobhan Doolan and Aisling Frawley while the final substitute was Chelsee Snell who looked lively during her time on the pitch. The game continued to meander along until with a couple of minutes to go, Peamount created two final chances with a header from a free a couple of feet wide and then a Peamount forward unable to convert a long cross from the left while on the stretch. Final whistle then went with Wexford 1-0 winners but I'm sure the home side will know that further improvement is required. Best for Wexford on the night were Claire O'Riordan, Nicola Sinnott and Linda Douglas while Jess Gleeson continued her improvement in her unfamiliar midfield role.
