Well what's the verdict after series one. An eventful series which sees us sitting in 4th position (good enough for European qualification in recent years) just 5 points off the mighty Dundalk in 2nd albeit just 6 points Above the relegation zone. A series which has just seen 3 defeats out of 11 remarkably against the two strongest teams in recent league of Ireland history. Personally I think it's been a great return to the premier despite the dismissal of Martin. Europe is definitely a realistic goal now. Willie has done tremendous to steady the ship and I would have no qualms with him being left there until the end of the season on current form.

I would have snapped your hand off for 4th at this stage before the season no matter how many points ahead or behind anyone. If we can get a bit of quality in the window and turn some of the draws into wins ( I realise I am stating the obvious) then it could be a very very interesting season. Reckon we are at least a top 6 team having seen everyone at this stage.

I genuinely don't know what to make of ye. Your performance against us was truly horrible. No effort or fight at all. We coasted. Yet despite conceding 3 goals that day and having a very poor defence for the past 2/3 seasons you have only conceded 10 all season. Thats just 7 goals in your other 10 games. Thats actually very decent. I look forward to seeing you at the Cross. You must have improved since our visit to Limerick.

I'm not been smart but every team ye come up against at the min ye are comfortably brushing aside not just us.

I'd disagree with that. Galway and Limerick were our easiest games. Other teams have given us trickier matches. Bray and Bohs in particular.

Cork game was by far our worst performance this season by some distance.

Bohs was right up there.

At least with Cork, we were woeful against a good team.

We thought Bohs were decent after that game (defensively especially) but it turns out that they are not.

My own view is that we won't be dragged into a relgation scrap. We have enough to stay ahead of HArps, Drogheda and Galway. On the other hand I think we may draw too many matches to hit Europe, we're just lacking that killer instinct.

I'd be satisfied with that for this year as well. People can bemoan my lack of ambition and I accept we're spending quite a lot but for the first season back up I wouldn't cry too many tears if we're safe in the middle of the pack.
