phew, that was a close one. Why do we have to make life so difficult for ourselves though? Im jsut relieved cos if we didnt recevie the licence, it would have been the end for LTFC and dark days ahead.

Previous committees' ineptness made life difficult for the present one moreso than they making it difficult for themselves. However that is now all behind us and we've a bright future ahead of us

Well done to all those who burnt the night oil over the past few weeks to ensure the requirements were met. I trust that steps have been taken to ensure there will never be a repeat of this years debacle. Anyway well done again. :)

Don't want to píss on the parade, but how long can this be wheeled out as an excuse? The current regime (in essence) has been in place for a fair bit of time now....
100% agree Macy.
Someone needs to take responsibility for this debacle. Blaming the previous committee for years is something the previous committee would do!!!.... Its time people admitted mistakes and took responsibility for them... The fans deserve an explanation......

maybe its time to have full time paid person/people working on admin (funds permitting).
way too close for comfort this year.

spot on 12th man! voluntary people doing everything on a voluntary basis in what is now a professional full time industry is not going to work anymore. fulltime admin staff is the only way forward and if that means cutting back on the playing staff after this season, so be it. Macy and co, you dont know the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes and the effort, time, and personal monetary donations contributed to keep things going, so if u would like to contribute towards the background work that would be appreciated, rather than talking abt stuff u dont know abt from ur ivory towers!!!!! matters going back 7 years are not that simply sorted!

I could've wrote a response like that myself, and posted under one of the reliable usernames  .
I don't doubt how much work goes in, just think it's about time we moved past blaming previous incarnations of the committee every time we hit an admin problem. I know the club could've been run better (to be on the safe side), but the "new" regime has been in place for a good while now.
Not every criticism is a personal attack on the current committee ffs.

i think we've all said our piece/s on this one quite a few times - re the volunteer v paid people admin argument.
i'm sure the volunteers would like to still have an input (and why not),but at this stage there is a definite need to get professional people involved to keep up with the day to day running of the club.
we all want to see the club prosper and progress off the park as well as on it :)

Well anything that happens from now on can be laid at the door of the current regime fair and square but it's almost impossible to overstate how much of a mess had to be cleared up in the last 18 months or so, as well as keeping the club going on a week to week basis. I've said it before but there's too much being done by too few on our current committee, all of whom are voluntary so don't have all the time other clubs' officials have to devote to these problems. No point looking back any more but without a few members (not all) of the current committee there could conceivably be no Longford Town today so credit where credit is due.
As far as I know there will be one person employed by the club in the near future to run the administration side of things, but one of the reasons we're competitive is that we dont have to spend large amounts of money for off the field people, Bohs for example have 9 paid off the field staff and it's not as if all's hunky dory with them.

As Longfordian says anything that happens from hereon is the responsibility of the existing committee and future committees. I can appreciate that a lot of cleaning up had to be done relating to past regimes and it needed something like the licence renewal procedure to have these matters prioritised. Don't forget though that for the last few years all of the clubs energy was spent in developing the clubs facilities and bringing the team to Premiership standards. Now that the back on this work has been broken it will be a far easier task to keep the books in order.
No more negatives on this topic please lets look forward. Roll on the Waterford Game. :)
