Wexford will probably be satisfied enough with a point in Ferrycarrig tonight as, despite a lot of endeavour, they didn't threaten Paul Skinner enough in the Longford goal. In contrast, Longford hit a couple of decent chances over the bar and also forced a very good double save from Corey Chambers in the Wexford goal. With Graham Doyle and Lee Duffy injured, Wexford went with Corey Chambers, Ricky Fox, Craig McCabe, Ross Kenny, Owen McCormack, Sean Hurley, Craig Wall, Eoin Porter, Duxey Dunne and with Adam Hanlon and Craig Hayes up front. The first half was poor from both sides with neither keeper really having been tested. Wexford, in particular, took a long time to get going and it was almost half an hour before they seemed to realise that they could get something from the game. On four minutes, Longford's O'Sullivan latched onto a flicked header, but was called up for offside. With 25 minutes gone, Wexford began to attack with some purpose and got three crosses into the Longford box in quick succession, but couldn't test Skinner from any of them. A minute later, Corey Chambers made a good clean catch from a Longford corner and it was the start of a good spell from the new Wexford keeper. A Longford player then got a yellow for a pull-back on Wexford's Craig Hayes. Just as the first half went into injury-time, O'Sullivan headed over when found by a cross from Don Cowan before a Longford defender took the ball off the toe of Craig Hayes just in the act of shooting. 0-0 at half-time and neither keeper had really been called into action at all.

Surprisingly, the two Longford attacking threats, O'Sullivan and Cowan, were replaced at the half-time break presumably due to injury. With ten minutes gone, Wexford's Adam Hanlon, looking more potent in this game, had a run and a shot, but it went well wide. Two minutes later, the same player had a far post header which went about two feet over the corner of the goal. On 15 minutes, Longford had their first good chance of the second period when an attacker blazed over from inside the box after a low cross from the left reached him in space. On the hour mark, Corey Chambers tipped away a dangerous cross by Longford for a corner and, as Wexford broke dangerously from that corner, Dean Zambra took one for the team by getting a yellow for ensuring the Wexford breakaway didn't bear down on Skinner's goal. With 68 minutes gone, Longford again shot over the bar, this time from the left wing. On 73 minutes, Corey Chambers pulled off a tremendous double save by denying a Longford attacker from close in and then deflecting the shot from the rebound off his own legs onto the crossbar and away. Late Wexford subs were Danny Doyle and Thomas Croke with Wexford having a dangerous free from just outside the box right at the end which couldn't beat the Longford wall and Craig McCabe picking up a yellow for a tackle just before the final whistle.

So, nil-nil at full-time and a better second half than first. Best for Wexford were Corey Chambers, Adam Hanlon, Duxey Dunne and Eoin Porter while Danny Doyle had a good cameo ten minutes at the end. Maybe, 200 at the game.

I have to say it's great to have this service. I was involved in a similar scheme a few years ago with Waterford (Radio DBSC) and it was a huge success.

Keep it up lads.
