The game ended 0-0 with Boyle and O'Connor playing the full 90 minutes. Boyle picked up a late booking and Browne was substituted after 82 minutes. Daryl Horgan came on for Callum Robinson after 68 minutes.

Cunningham and Horgan started Preston's excellent win at Cardiff tonight, playing 84 and 69 minutes respectively. Both had departed by the time Tom Clarke hit the only goal of the game right at the end. Browne played the full ninety, Pilkington was an unused sub for Cardiff.

No Irish players started for Preston today with four on the bench including, somewhat oddly, both Irish full-backs (Cunningham and O'Connor). Only Daryl Horgan got any gametime, coming on with twelve minutes left. http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/42475350 Meanwhile Middlesbrough started their two Irish internationals, Randolph playing the full 90 and Christie coming off after an hour. Result? Preston 2 - 3 Middlesbrough. I hope you've learned your lesson, Alex Neil :p

The squad rotation policy at Preston must be infuriating for their fans. No rhythm can really be achieved while the first eleven and even the bench constantly changes to such an extent.

They'd probably have a squad capable of at least a playoff place if they found a bit of balance.

Preston away to Wycombe in the FA Cup today. Horgan, Browne and Cunningham all start with Boyle and O'Connor on the bench.

Browne and Cunningham are likely to feature heavily between now and the end of the season. Hopefully Horgan can translate his recent opportunities in the first team into a long-term berth. Preston's new signing, Billy Bodin, is also starting and he is generally a winger. Callum Robinson looks to be the number 9, although I don't think he generally plays that role. Horgan needs to impress with both these lads on the pitch and Barkhuizen and Hugill not starting (Hugll not in the squad).

EDIT: They're one up already, Josh Harrop.

Horgan's was an own goal really, can't see how he'd be credited with it. Browne's first was a cracker - https://twitter.com/PNEPhotos/status/949741623616921600

Yeah, he's definitely got to be one of the priorities in midfield, given that he's consistently managed to step up to higher levels.

After a slow start to the season, former League of Ireland favourite Horgan is finding his rhythm at Preston http://the42.ie/3787756

They've levelled away to Millwall. Assist from Cunningham. Apparently the ball was so good that Robinson (eligible) only had to chest it in.

Hard to know how true it is or isn't but The Sun saying Horgan, Boyle, O'Connor and Doyle are all outside the present managers plans.

Preston have signed Man City under 23 winger Brandon Barker on loan for the rest of the season. Daryl Horgan and Graham Burke started on the bench in their win over QPR at the weekend, with Horgan coming on. Callum Robinson started and finished the match. As did Alan Browne and he also scored the only goal of the match.

Horgan has been there a while now and with no sign of nailing down a starting birth. He's actually 26 this week so he hasn't exactly made much progress there since joining at the age of 24.

Incidentally, Ryan Manning came on for QPR on the 46th minute.

Yes I have been a little disappointed with how Horgan has got on at Preston. Thought he was one of the best prospects to leave the LOI in recent years. If someone asked who wouldve had the better impact in the Championship, Maguire or Horgan I wouldve without question gone for Horgan. Would appear to be a big season for him.

Preston's Irish contingent have been 'in the wars' recently. However, Sportsmole reports today (24 Dec) that Robbie Brady has returned to first team training and that Alan Browne and Sean Maguire have "also returned to training in some form this week". It is hoped that Troy Parrott will return to action some time in January.
