Haven't seen a huge amount towards previews as of yet.

Highland Radio preview ahead of the year along with Felix Healy and Kevin McHugh. Largely focuses on Harps and Derry naturally, but does talk about the league in general too.

The excellent 8 page pull out is back in the Irish Sun from this Wednesday, that's the weekly publication. They usually have a separate pre season magazine, I think the Irish Star and possibly the Irish Mail does one also.

I think a Soccer Republic season preview show would be a great idea. Unlikely to ever happen I know..

Anybody know when the preview magazines are in the various newspapers.

The one in the Irish Mail is out tomorrow. Also, not a magazine, but the Irish Sun weekly 8 page supplement returns tomorrow. I would assume the Irish Mirror will restart theirs on Friday. Both of these supplements are excellent, actually it's the only time I generally buy both papers.

Seen on twitter the mirror will have a 16 page preview and then the weekly 8 page pull out on Fridays. Personally prefer the mirror then again I only read that and the star. Wouldn't wipe me arse with the sun

The Irish Sun is very good and the O'Riordan and Crowzer know a lot about Irish football.

If this is another link to Liverpool, its getting tiresome, the Irish Sun covers LOI football to a very good standard. I also agree 100% with WH that O'Riordan and Cowzer who write for the Irish edition are very good journalists and the supplement today was excellent.

Nothing in the mail in Dublin 16 today.

Anybody see any supplements yet?

I only ever really buy newspapers any more for their League of Ireland coverage. The Sun and the Mirror are far and away the best in terms of coverage of the league, but the Irish Daily Mail usually do a good pullout at the start of the season. Haven't bought todays papers yet, but last years Mail was a glossy magazine type and it was very good.

Yeah, 30 page glossy magazine in my Irish Daily Mail bought today, in Louth, pretty decent stuff, enough to get you even more excited for Friday!

Numerous reasons. It's a horrible paper aside from football.

Everybody agrees that the way they covered Hillsborough was deplorable, but there's no need to bring that up here.

The guys who write the LOI content for the Irish Sun have nothing whatsoever to do with the old coverage of Hillsborough. There one of only 2 papers in Ireland who actually cover LOI really well and many ppl on here enjoy their LOI coverage.

I gave up on the sun about 10 years ago based on their coverage of a news-story here in Cork. Despicable.

Did you really expect to get balanced, quality reporting on national/world issues from a redtop??

I like the Sun and the Star for the LOI coverage, but i wouldn't even consider reading anything outside of their sports section.

Ditto with Philosophizer,
if you are reading a red top expecting news you should save yourself the trouble and buy the Beano.
The Sun news coverage is strictly the print version of Clickbait online
LOI coverage excellent ! worth the €1 on Wednesday.

I am regularly annoyed by the lack of balance in political stories carried by the Sunday & Irish Independent. But that does not impact on my enjoyment of Daniel McDonnell's sports journalism (nor does it make his reporting any less reliable or trustworthy).

Ditto for the distinction already made in relation to sports reporting in the Irish Sun and other redtops

I have learned that lesson since, I was a lot younger than I am now ten years ago strangely enough (actually I looked it up and it was 12 years ago). BUt I can't support this paper in particular, regardless of how good their sports coverage may be.

On an unrelated topic I've just listened to the Eir Podcast Episode, I'm impressed. I enjoy the extratime one but its quite amateur at times and limited as a result. It also became very Dundalk focused last year as they had access to someone who was interviewing Dundalk players every week. I don't mind that, but every single week for most of the season was a bit much.

This is a step up in professionalism and I will be looking forward to it each week. It makes me wish I had Eir at home to watch the games this season.

He didn't mention Hillsborough to be fair. I'd sooner go without news than read The Sun or The Mail. It's entirely up to anybody else what they want to read. No need for even a hint of disageeement between us all on New Season Day surely? :) :ball:

only problem with theirs is that they have individual interviews on their podcast and you listen to them and then realise afterwards that its on the actual podcast and then you try skipping them and then internet cuts out on you but otherwise its a great podcast!

Can you get that podcast in a feed? I don't want to navigate to their website everytime it comes out.
