There's every incentive. It's that bit easier to sell advertising if you attendances are 10% higher for example. And it's very much done (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1083630/The-truth-modern-day-attendances-How-clubs-count-missing-fans.html).

There's no VAT issues - season ticket holders are counted whether or not they turn up for example. Then, as I note, you've got the "complementaries"

And anyway, who's counting? If Rovers say their crowd was 4,524 against Bohs (or whatever it was), how do we know it wasn't actually 3,816? What's to stop them just adding on that extra 20% or so?

Attendances and the tracking of attendances are in my top 25 pet peeves about the league.

God help me I'd say I've been in pretty much every ground a half dozen times at this stage, a good few a lot more.

No club in the league gives out accurate attendances. Most over count some under count, every one of them are absolute ******.

Yeah felt like more but I watched it back on eir later and there was a big gap between bohs fans and the normal humans in the west stand.

Typical attendance number 251, I bet 250 is the reference figure and the (1) is the guy at the gate counting! :nerd:

251 at Wexford v Cobh.
Thought around 200 myself but I won't argue with that. My first visit there in a good while.
I'd expect Wexford would get much better crowds if they were nearer to the town. Similar problem that Longford have I imagine, which when you think of our paltry crowds and our position close to the town and our league position it makes it all the more baffling.

August bank holiday, no league challange, not really being under pressure currently for EL slot, poor perfromance with a good crowd v Rovers last home game - i think all considered above 2000 is not so bad and with a cup tie up.

Must be counting season tickets or something you could literally count on one hand the people sitting in the main stand and there was only a few scattered behind the dugout

2083 Dundalk v Limerick.Lowest figure from us this year and maybe last couple of years.

We had a few under 2k in the 3 in a row league winning seasons, I think at least 2 and all were Mon/Tues night games, one was v Galway I think. I'd have to check back but from memory these were around 1700-1800. A lot of crowds down last week due to holidays, at least 6 of us missed the Dlk v Limerick game due to hols.

I would be curious to what the attendance of first cobh Longford town match originally was as last Saturday the attendance was considerably down on the first game.

Blue Army didn't actually look like it was missing too many tonight. U21 game, poor performances recently and junior games on tonight were all a factor.

1404 at Galway v Rovers.
I thought it was more like 1800. Sometimes I wonder are tickets from the away support not being counted.
There were probably 250 Rovers fans down, so that means there were about 150 more home supporters than at the Bray game but the stand was much more packed.

No attendance given for Longford V Athlone (No away fans) but Neale's fenn tweeted to say it was the biggest home crowd of the season. Not sure that's correct I thought the crowd was very poor and Defo not as many there as last week (626)
