Longford Town face losing inspirational midfielder
Thursday, January 31st, 2002
Longford Town face the very real possibility that midfielder Stuart Byrne will leave Flancare Park at the end of the current season.

eircom League Online can exclusively reveal that the Dubliner has a clause in his contract that now means he is free to leave the midlanders, for whom he has made well over 100 apperances.

The clause stated that if Stephen Kenny left Longford, Byrne would be able to do likewise. It is believed that the Dubliner is prepared to leave the club at the end of the season.

The former Home Farm midfielder, who has been deployed as a centre-half for much of this campaign, is now in his fourth season at Mullologher and he has been one of the club's most consistent performers in recent years.

The 25-year-old feels he can further his career by joining a better club and Kenny, an admirer of the player, may well bring him to Dalymount Park in the summer. Other clubs would also be interested in the stylish Dubliner.

There are just too many rumours flying about.....

Oh fook, oh fook, oh fook...........

Everyone is replacable...... BTW the clause in his contract would still mean he'd fetch a price.... If we got good money for him it would soften the blow a bit..... The most worrying thing is the post on the message board, stating Rennie was on his way...
We could lose one but not both....
