I really admire O'Dea for making the most of his lot and especially for trying his luck in Canada and Ukraine. He's not the best defender out there but he has a good attitude, applies himself. He and others such as Cillian Sheridan should be lauded to younger Irish footballers as an example of the chances offered up by the football world outside of Britain.

Well, considering his last three clubs were Leeds United, Toronto FC and Metalurh Donetsk, a bit of instability should be right up his alley

I think this is the route young Irish players have to go down. We seem to think that making it in Britain is the be all and end all of football.

He gets around in fairness to him. That will be some quiz question in 20/30 years? What Irish international played club football in Canada, Ukraine and India!! He's surely unique in thiat regard.

Could he make a dramatic return to the Irish squad in the next year or two if he continues to play well in Scotland (albeit a terrible league)?
Figured his international career was over when he was playing in India

Hard to know, but a step closer to it than being in India surely. It went so badly for Gunning & Rooney in England after looking so comfortable in Scotland, and Kiernan at Rangers too will be spoken about if he steps up with them, always hard to tell with lads playing SPL.

Well Gunning just got broken - that could happen in any league.
