I heard that Nabs with pike has either got his first cap or has been pulled into the squad. Congrats ? What does it take to get into the squad (apart from the obivous
From some of the posts he is not rated much. I've seen him twice and he looks like a good player.
Did he ever get a look in while in the Clare league ??

He was called up last year while he was still a member of the Clare league... He was called into the training squad after Clare won the Oscar Traynor last year and has held his place in the squad since. Dec Adams at Park was on the original training squad too but did not make the panel... Nabs is on the 18 called to play St Pats in a friendly next Friday week and train the following day...

Its now called the Irish amateur team as there are only 3 junior players. Rest are intermediate from Dublin or Cork.... 3 junior are James Walsh, Barry Flynn and Nabs....

I think he got a call up late last season after Clare's win in the Oscar Traynor. He was with Newmarket at the time. :ball:

I bow to you CSD. You are spot on. Bryan Donnellan of Kilkishen was also called up at the same time but had to drop out when it was realised that he had only been out of senior soccer (Limerick FC) for 1 season. Incidentally, Bryan has now left Kilkishen to rejoin Limerick for the coming season. Are you aware of any other local players who have been poached?

None (for now) although Mike Malley and Seamy Lawlor are gone to View and Pike.... They way things have gone there are no players in Clare good enough for Limerick FC and most of the best players are gone to play at club level in there!!!!!!!

To play in the UEFA Regions Cup a player must not have played even a minute of EL football. This rule obviously excludes loads of decent players throughout the country in the different leagues. By the way best of luck to Davy Connolly of Drums on your call up.

What a joke the irish amateur team, surely it should be only players from junior leagues!!

Waterford Crystal have, I reckon, the best junior keeper in the Country and has not got a look in. Do you have to be in a certain league or in "The Click" to get into this side

The set up seemed to have being altered to boost up the Dublin representation, apparently. The Junior International side would have being Munster dominated besides.

A closed shop this Junior International team, Carrick United got to The Finals of The FAI Jnr Cup, Munster Jnr Cup, Munster Snr Cup and second round of the FAI Snr Cup last season .. a record. They had 3 players asked to joke trials --that was that.

There is an apparent reason behind this. All the top Dublin players play intermediate football and with Dublin fairly off the radar in junior soccer terms, apart from Killester United, St. Kevin's, Portmarnock and Ballymun United, bringing in the intermediate sides is just a smokescreen to boost Dublin club representation again, as it is easier to bring guys into the AUL Complex from across the Capital. I'm sure that Killester Utd, Westport United, Carew Park, Ballynanty Rovers, Pike Rovers, St. Michael's, Peake Villa, Waterford Crystal, Galway Hibs, Portmarnock, Ballymun United, Park Rangers, Bellurgan United, Mervue United, Carrick Rovers, Fairview Rangers, Evergreen, Trim Athletic, Tramore Athletic, Tralee Dynamoes, Clonmel Town, St Cormac's and St Kevin's would all put in a shout for their top guns to be recognised. There should be a level playing pitch for all. Stick all the juniors into one category and the intermediates into another category. No one should be denied the right to represent his country on the basis of geographical location.
