I am just wondering how big a threat to the world order this league is with its apparent vast sums of money to pay players. I would say that the EPL is worried as it would have a massive TV audience if based solely on Chinese people alone and where the viewing figures go, so does the advertising revenue.

When the Chinese league is paying Graziona Pelle more than Neymar is getting at Barca, I think it's fair to say that they have to pay a premium just to consider getting decent players to move to China, and so won't be challenging the world order any time soon really.

I would have thought.

It's gone beyond crazy, but the likes of Messi and Ronaldo surely will be next over there. Million a week will be hard for them to turn down.

The Chinese players are getting a crazy small fraction of these lads, so their overall weekly wage bills are still much less than Premier League or La Liga counterparts.

It strikes me as just a OTT version of how the MLS attracts European players in the twilight of their careers, somewhat akin to how Saudi Arabia did briefly for a while, and India to a much lesser extent.

At the end of the day, no one (but the Chinese I suppose) is going to remember their name for winning a Chinese League, no matter how Super it is.

Does that matter? I was watching the last game at the Calderon and before the game they were bringing on past greats of yesteryear. I had no idea who any of these lads are but these would be the heroes of Spanish football in the 70's and 80's. The Liam Bradys of the Med. I live in a country where English football is our go to but to the fans of Atletico they are heroes, legends of the game. If enough players went to China then the eyes of the world would start to look east.

Only about a fifth of the population of the world I suppose.

Oscar has been fined and suspended for eight matches in an unusual incident in the Chinese Super League. The length of the suspension it nuts, technically he just kicked the ball twice in open play. Maybe they have a 'no blasters' rule! :D - http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/40368137
