Where else has the excitement been brewing - I haven't been paying as much attention as I normally do. I know that Alkmaar and Lille are doing well in the Netherlands and France this year.

Well spotted. That League title race is surprisingly open this season. Makes a change from a traditional season where Porto are so far ahead by now that the only thing of interest is who comes 2nd, 3rd and 4th .

I think Moldova is more open than usual too... ;)

If you think the Scottish league is predictable (and I know yous would never say that :p :) ) the Portugese league is even worse, five different winners in the history of the league and outside the big three, Belenenses and Boavista have only won it once each.

But it has actually become much more open in the last few seasons. Although I put the hex on Brage as they lost on Friday  . I think this is due to the investment in football because of the recent euro champs

The 2004 Norwegian League went all the way down to the final minute of the last weekend of matches before Frode Johnsen scored in injury to give Rosenborg the title from Valerenga by the slimmest of margins of 1 goal scored

La Liga is hotting up nicely again. I keep telling people that Barcelona are beginning to show signs that they'll throw that 7 point lead in the toliet and Real Madrid are actually starting to show the form the showed before Beckham arrived, watch that space!
