Shamrock Rovers are expected to announce this week that they will use Bohemians’ Dalymount Park stadium in the 2005 eircom League season, and not Drogheda’s United Park, which had been included in their initial licence application before Christmas.

Rovers, like the other 21 eircom League clubs, failed to win an FAI licence in the First Instance Committee’s initial findings last week.

But for the sake of their appeal, they are expected to state that Dalymount Park will act as their temporary home in 2005.

The rivalry between Rovers and Bohemians is one of the most enduring in Irish football, but the respective fans could be sharing a stadium this year if an agreement can be reached between the both parties.

Rovers used St Patrick’s Athletic’s Richmond Park for the bulk of the past two seasons, and have previously in the past decade played their home matches at Tolka Park, Santry’s Morton Stadium and the RDS.

Their proposed Tallaght Stadium home, which was expected at one stage last year to be ready for the beginning of the new season, has again been put on hold amid planning difficulties with South Dublin County Council.
