Fair enough report, fairview just can't defend set pieces but to say they were "fortunate" to beat aisling last week is ridiculous and just goes to further enhance what people say as regards you having a negative view towards Mick Aherne and Paul O Donnell managed sides. I was at the game and how anyone can say fairview were lucky last week is beyond me. Boro full value for the points this moring. Ps- fairview looked fairly fit to my eyes this morning 😉

I somehow deleted my first attempt at a reply when trying to edit it on the phone!

Tier wasn't there, and hasn't played since he partnered Paul Danaher in the 5-3 league defeat to Ballynanty Rovers a fortnight ago.

No idea why, nor do I know why Mullins was out.

If I don't think it's injury or suspension, I don't ask. I'm hardly going to write that some lad was doing an exam or at a wedding like!

I'm sure both lads gave good notice to their managers anyway, and were not absent without leave.....;)

Fairview were very poor yesterday on paper look a very good side but always look like they are going to conceed they are a distance behind pike and I think yesterday's result means they have to get somerhing from the pike game

I don't see them getting anything from the Pike game, give away too many cheap goals especially against the stronger sides. Boro v Pike next weekend should be a cracker.

To the best of my knowledge, he never left. Nor did Christy, who also played against Ballynanty a fortnight ago.

Latest LDL Premier Division statistics here (https://limerickdl.wordpress.com/statistics-201617/), featuring a new entrant at the top of the goalscorer's chart in Olly O'Driscoll.

Remember, you can catch my recent interview with Olly here (https://soundcloud.com/alan-obrien-9/limerick-soccer-podcast-ep-9-feat-olly-odriscoll); wonderful feel-good story.

Thanks for the report AoB,it suggests chances were scarce to say the least but huge win for Janesboro nevertheless, two defeats in a row for Pike and 6 goals conceded and none scored.good wins for Nenagh ,regional and good point for Kilmallock.i see Moyross lost again have they won since the old mgt came back?

Massive win for Janesboro. Starting to settle down after a very shaky start, usually improve as the season goes on. Half the league games played and its only October.

Great point for Kilmallock, given that they lost one of their full-backs to a red card and trailed 3-1 at one stage. Should be noted that Ballynanty were forced to field on outfield player in goal however, as Stephen McNamara was unavailable (through no fault of his own).

Moyross have indeed won since the changing of the guard; a massive 3-2 home win that all but sealed Geraldines' fate at the beginning of the month.

Good win last night for the OT team, can't believe Mark Slattery isn't on that team, best defender in town imo

AlanOB
06/11/2016, 8:34 PM
Slattery may have refused consideration. I don't know if he did, or didn't, but it's possible.

This is why it's probably pointless to discuss OT panel selection, unless you speak to the selectors and hear their rationale. They can only pick from the players that want to play, which often times is far from everyone.

Moyross will be battered tomorrow, fairview are way too good for them. nenagh just won't be able to compete with the boro, aisling will beat a weakened kilmallock and pike will put at least 3 past balla. That's my tuppence worth for tomorrow

Treaty Gooner
19/11/2016, 1:08 PM
Moyross will put it up to Fairview same as they did to the Boro. Nenagh will struggle against a stronger Boro side than they played midweek. How are Kilmallock weakened, they had a great win last week. Balla to beat Pike.

League results very inconsistent so far ,good results for Balla and Nenagh especially with Kilmallock producing another good result.Fairview,s 3pts will give them a boost......the big story at the moment has been Pikes 3 defeats in a row ,,at home too with probably the strongest squad around.

Anyone know when the last time Pike lost 3 consecutive home league games in one season?

Sea Bird

Was at the pike game this morning, Gary O Neill the best hold up player I've seen in the league by a mile, Tony Fahey rolling back the years, surprised to see Colin Daly on the bench?? Always does very well any time I have seen him playing. It must be a long time since Pike have lost 3 league games on the trot?? On paper they look to have the strongest team and squad in town, I see a few sides who's managers have been berated on here have moved ahead of them, makes you wonder.......

Fair play to AOB,a good read ,one would have to assume there would be editoral input into it but nevertheless a good piece.whats the story with the Cecil Prendergast angle in it ,is he gone from Carew and why ,?i thought the present manager brought him in as his assistant.

Given all that has gone on, and continues to go on, the Leader - and particularly its editor Eugene Phelan - deserve huge credit for even proceeding with this column.

Very pleased with how they presented it as well. Giving me every chance, and I'm very grateful for it.

Whether you thought it was tame or not, thanks for reading.

Ever been in a dressing room with him? I have and it's an experience... legend is a bit of a stretch.

AlanOB
25/11/2016, 9:15 PM
Whatever about Cecil's dressing room modus operandi, the guy is one of the few genuine what-you-see-is-what-you-get individuals involved in junior soccer today.

For my money, that alone might qualify him as a legend, as guys like him are about as rare as hen's teeth in the game in this town.

As far as i'm aware Cecil was suspended by the club after an altercation he had with a referee after a game few weeks ago,i agree the man is a legend and gives his all, would be great to see him back with Carew with some big games coming up soon i'm sure they could do with him

Steady on Faceoff, if you think a) they didn't speak to Pat before this happened and b) that he or his reputation are in any way threatened by AOB then you really are just stirring the pot for pot stirring's sake. PS reports the way a junior game should be reported on. The other guy goes into a level of detail that it doesn't, based on the people who play it and manage it and criticises it on a level that almost mocks the same people for not being Jose bloody Mourinho or Paul bloody Scholes. I don't like it because it's not fair. But he's entitled to say what he wants.
