A little third-tier action, if anyone's interested. Outside the remit of this thread slightly, but you won't get on my case for that now, will you?....

This is all getting a bit boring, can everyone just move on and start talking about what matters, that being the football? I find this forum great for keeping up to date with all the games, signings etc. A lot of goals scored so far this season and some surprising results. Pike looking strong to win the league but credit to Fairview they have started strong also. Any opinions at this early stage who will win the league and who will go down? What's the update on Summerville?

Pike to win the league and Fairview to follow them home, Boros back 4 will be their downfall again and I'm not certain their new managers harsh management style will wash well down there, wouldn't surprise me if it blew up at some stage.

I think Summerville are going playing 2 matches the first of which is against Fairview on Sunday and then pulling out, fancy kilmallock to go with them, shipping a lot of goals although they have had a very tough start fixture wise.

They are without Eoin Hanrahan and now Brian O'Sullivan so unless someone else comes in that may hinder them for a while.

Pike to win the league and fairview runners up, boro look very average i don't see any improvement since Aidan ryan took over.

Pike to be ran very close by fairview and boro. As long as you have clarke on your team he can win games on his own no matter what manager is in charge. Pike are strong but not been overly impressed so far but it is early days. Fairview looked very impressive in their opening two games and heard they struggled against dines. Neverthelss, no goals conceded looks positive from last season. Nenagh could have a big say and will take points from the big teams.

Pike
Fairview
Boro
Nenagh

Predictions for tonight:
Carew
Nenagh
Pike
Boro
Fairview

carew look out of contention for the league new signings didn't work, boro don't look to have improved that much, bad defeat for fairview and nenagh but I think both will improve , can't see anyone touching pike rovers they have a very good squad.

As usual good report AoB,watched most of the game and must say pike very comfortable ....squad ,with what was missing, the strongest in the country, daly and mcgann top players dictated the whole game.regional can,t afford to be without the players they were missing although couple of decent performances in their team.

Pike look very strong and I think will win the league by a margin , with the players they have coming back from injury fai must be in their sights as well, looking at the boro who are supposed to be closest rivals look like an average squad.

Pike do look like they have a very good squad and look well equipped to give the fai another good go.
Boro were very dissapointing yesterday. The one area they needed to strenghten was their defence over the off season and they didnt, they do look vunerable at the back.
There are a host of games coming up over the next 10 days and after that i think we will have a better idea of where teams stand in regards to challenging pike or staying up.
Sticking with my Pike, Fairview and Boro top 3 in that order.

Fairview look to have good players but the bench is weak and I would think they will struggle if they pick up injuries in certain areas, if pike pick up 9 points next three matches I think that will be it, boro will struggle with the current squad.

Would totally agree with you. To do well in league and cups you need a good bench behind you and Fairviews and Boro's do look weak. Maybe one of them can do a Leicester City and get very lucky with injuries lol. Long way to go but next 3 games in quick succession will tell us much more.

Pike scoring for fun again, some amount of goals already scored. They'll surely put 10 on Summerville on Thursday, without being disrespectful to the Portland boys.

I is going to be tough on Summerville but I think that is their last game in the premier division.

A three way battle to avoid relegation between dines. Moyross and kilmallock I'd say

Look to be improving every week too. Be interesting to see will Moyross turn to Phillip power to come back if they are in trouble after Xmas

Kennycon
07/09/2016, 12:09 PM
I think Philip power will have to come back , Jason o Connor and frank hogan are not getting the best out of the players at the moment and players don't seem to be getting on , I think if he got back involved they could beat the teams around them.

Ballistinianlad

I would imagine the way Phillip left might have affected morale in the Moyross camp

How many years was he manager

Fairkop
07/09/2016, 7:11 PM
very harsh assessment of both Frank and Jason who are only in the job five minutes, and Moyross,s league form last season under their previous manager will hardly inspire the current crop of players.

Kennycon
07/09/2016, 7:48 PM
Where is the very harsh ?? Jason and frank not getting the best out of the players at the moment, and just to remind you Philip had a great record with moyross I.E a great run in the fai and staying up with very limited resources that's no disrespect to the current managers but I think Philip knows how to get the best out of the current players and moyross could do with him back that's my opinion.

It's hard to judge teams this time of the season, playing 1/3 of your league games in a 4 week period is very tough, plus players missing mid-week games due to work commitments. It takes a while for new managements to get the team they way they want it. When it goes to 1 game a week most teams will settle down.

Il say it straight out. The way Phillip power was ousted was bound to affect the mood in the camp. He was Moyross like. And I bet any money most of the players would love to see him back.

Treaty Gooner
07/09/2016, 9:44 PM
Didn't affect them when they hammered Kilmallock who have gone on to do very well. Managers and strategies don't matter as much as the quality of the players and they've lost some very good ones.

Jofspring
07/09/2016, 9:52 PM
I'd agree with Treaty Gooner. 99% of the time in football a huge amount comes down to the quality in the squad. You can be the best manager in town but if you don't have the quality then you can only go so far. I think Moyross lost a few key players but in saying that they are probably only a few good players away from picking up more results.

The transfer window doesn't close for another 3 weeks so I wouldn't be surprised to see players move around.

Kennycon
07/09/2016, 10:15 PM
A league could be won and lost the first 5/6 games and by the time it's one match aweek a team could be 10pts behind

Kennycon
07/09/2016, 10:22 PM
Jofspring it's down to the manager to build that quality squad and down to the manager to decide what way he wants to play and approach games, teams with average players can win trophies with the right manager, I would love to see moyross in the league next year I think it will be a long season for them but I think Philip power has been a big loss.

Ballistinianlad
08/09/2016, 6:28 AM
I think the way Phillip was ousted could be a big reason for their slow enough start. But at the end of the day they should get at least a full season to see how they get on. As someone said above if they could add one maybe two more quality players they should be fine.
