Does anyone else here think that a champions league place should be awarded to the winner of the FA cup?

Don't get me wrong now. I'm no John Motson spouting about the 'Magic of the world greatest knockout competition' but I do think it would bring back a bit of prestige to the cup, while at the same time removing the prestige of finnishing fourth in the league, which is rediculously considered a succesful season by most managers.

Plus the financial gains of the Champions leage place would result in managers being aprehensive about feilding reserves and youths in F.A cup games.

I don't know if I entirely agree with you but you do have a good point. I think it's rediculous that the team who finishes 4th in the Premiership and other top Euro Leagues get into the Chanpions League. Giving teams from the so-called weaker countries more opportunity to get a crack at the big time would help develop football in these leagues. But of course 'money talks, and b.s. walks!'
Looking at the UEFA Cup in recent seasons proves my point. This Cup has become a joke. It seems once you finish in the top half of your league you can play in it. It has become mediocre. It would improve if less places were made available for the Champions League and there was no 'second chance' for the 3rd place teams in the CL Group phase.
As for the FA Cup winners?
Simple!
