Young striker scored four in the first 27 minutes for Cabo tonight against Athlone, including a six minute hat trick.
Surely has to be some sort of record.

Six minute hat-trick for Doyle, inside the first 8 minutes of the game.
It's not even the quickest in Irish football. Jimmy O'Connor for Shelbourne against Bohs scored a hat-trick in 2 minutes 13 seconds in 1967.

David O'Dowd for us vs Limerick in Hogan Park in the First Division in 2006 also scored a six minute hat trick http://galwayunitedfc.ie/last-league-meeting-limerick/

Getting to four within 27 mins won't have been done too often to be fair. So that trumps any quicker hat tricks.
Joe Doyle's on fire...*

Robert Lewandowski scored 5 goals in 9 minutes earlier this year.
This Doyle kid is rubbish, he'll never make it until he gets 5 goals in 5 minutes

I was in Germany for that last year actually. Think they were calling him Tor-andowski or something. Anyway nigel either come up with a quicker LOI four goaler please or I might get miffed at your misdirection.

Forget it. Just enjoy this instead, it's way better.

I remember that game. :( The 'highlight' was probably when my needling of a Galway sub who was missing his penalties in his half-time warm up led to him demanding to know if I could do any better. So I hopped the wall to take one (no proper stewarding at Limerick games in 2006 kids), gave it my best and most professional run up, slipped just before striking the ball, seemed to hang motionless in the air for what felt like 30 seconds and landed in an undignified heap as my shot was passing a couple of feet wide of the post. Cue much merriment from the few people who were watching (no proper crowds at Limerick games in 2006 either. I always remember that the sub I'd been goading was an absolute gentleman afterwards, more concerned with making sure I'd survived my awkward landing than mocking my awkward technique. Good times.

FYI it was either Alan Murphy, Dave Cooke, John Russell or Mixie Harty ;) I assume it was Tomasz Gruszka that was standing in goal.

It wasn't Murphy because he'd gone into the dressing room ahead of his impending introduction to the game. I was profoundly grateful for that as we had a small bit of history at that time and I don't think he'd have been particularly gracious (for the record, I lived in Ballinrobe years later and discovered he's perfectly pleasant when not scoring goals in Pike against the worst Limerick team I can remember)! I'd have remembered Harty too I think so presume it was Cooke or Russell.
