My mind can't comprehend how a team concedes five goals to cabinteely.

Were they playing fly keeper??

With four players??

A team made up of kids isn't exactly going to put up a challenge.

Not to worry I'm sure the English scouts were falling over themselves to snap up the talent. The Chairman is in advanced negotiations.

The cunning plan of Athlone's chairman is gradually coming into focus. He didn't mean to sell Athlone's youngsters. He wants to make everyone else's prospects look good in return for a cut of the fees.

A team made up of kids isn't exactly going to put up a challenge.

Against a team of kids?

Cabinteelys starting 11 had a 17 year old, an 18 year old (who scored four of the goals), five 19 year olds, two 20 year olds and a 23 year old. Average age of 19.45

Athlone had four players under 20. Average age of the starting team was 20.81.

If they get whipped 5-1 against possibly one of the youngest teams to ever step foot on a League of Ireland pitch, I dread to think what will happen when they come up against Limerick, UCD, Drogheda and the more experienced sides in the coming weeks.

Nigel, what I meant was none of them LOI experience and it doesn't help that they are ****e too. It's a put together team to avoid a fine. Nothing else. One of the lads who started hadn't played football in 2 years.
On the pitch matters mean absolutely nothing to us fans at the moment.
More important issues to deal with.

Might they actually lose a game? Wheels coming off the cart at Markets Field.

2-2 now; both sides down to ten. Makes it 5 red cards in ucd v Limerick matches this season.

Bohs ahead inside two minutes in Longford. Maybe too early to say it's hard to see Longford coming back from that - but you'd say they're the least likely in the league to recover.

I have always found Derry folk to be welcoming and engaging people and last Friday I enjoyed some pre-match banter with locals in the Bluebell Bar, where my €20 note got a reasonable stg£16 sterling in return.

However when I tried to buy some burgers from RS Catering in the ground I found the rate had shrunk to stg£14 for the same amount. Blatent rip-off or just the volatility of the post Brexit sterling exchange rate?

I'd say around 5, scratch that a share size bag will do the lot. A bucket of Fanta will keep them watered too.

That would have been the rate around the start of the year, but changed a bit since then. Not great value, I'd have called them on it.

Fairly brutal stuff from ourselves on Friday night, equalling out biggest ever LoI defeat (and being the biggest at home). Shocking defending for the first two goals, then McBride needlessly getting himself sent off. From then on we all kind of expected a hiding. Probably could have been worse, reckon Dundalk were due a penalty in the second half.
Not sure if I'd read too much into the result from our own point of view. Yes, we were very poor, but we're capable of better. Regarding Dundalk, they really are a class above the rest of the league. Some lovely passing moves and clinical finishing, thought the fifth goal was great. I'd imagine they'll get through their CL qualifier handy enough, based on last Friday night.

If it stays as it is with GD it is essentially a 10 point gap with 2 games more played. Important prior to the rigours of Europe, and with McMillan firing on all cylinders at the right time!

We must be in CL mode :dazed: I'm in England at the minute but the crowd sounds awful. Dont need to be dropping pints at home to Longford. Maybe this is the break that Cousins has been talking about all season....

Offside from McMillan for number 4. It must be a tactical ploy in front of the Icelandic scouts!! eek!
