Anyone have much experience with Android TV boxes? Thinking of investing in one, but never really looked into all the pros and cons.

Any of the foot.ie tech-heads able to give any advice?

This is an example of what I'm talking about.

I have an android box under my TV with KODI installed, works really well for streaming movies/tv shows/music/etc as well as internet streams - youtube/spotify
that's not a bad price for one. think mine was about the €120 mark but it was 4+ years ago

Handy enough for streaming day to day tv channels too? Looking basically for an alternative to getting a dreambox.

anything that supports Kodi will get you all that DaHamsta mentions plus the ability to stream TV. For the apps that provide the streaming TV, it is fairly reliable for your US and UK channels although I still have difficulty with some of the Irish channels.

In terms of the box, we bought the Minix NEO X7 https://www.amazon.ca/MINIX-NEO-X7-Android-Bluetooth/dp/B00EE4LHX2

The latest version (the X8) is now released and available for $180 (e125). https://www.amazon.ca/X8-H-Streaming-Devices-Android-Ethernet/dp/B00KNLCOUK/ref=pd_cp_504_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=7H8JAPA7B52GDJ1TPQKC

The X7 is a quality product, great firmware, easy to use and lots of ports. The X8 is even better and the reviews support it.
